Attending Royal Ascot has been on my bucket list since I moved to London and I am SO glad I had the chance to go last weekend. There are horse races at the track every month but only once a year is it Royal Ascot where the royals show up Tuesday through Saturday for five days of horse races. With work travel I got tickets for the Saturday races back in April and as you may have seen a few weeks ago in my Hats for Royal Ascot post, spent a long day on Oxford street but finally came home with a very large hat box and a navy fascinator I was quite happy with.
Since the tickets were pricey and the hat cost a pretty penny I decided to go shopping in my closet for the rest of the items. This dress made it’s first appearance on the blog more than three years ago and I still really like it and the shoes you saw back in the Summer of 2017 here. I paired them with my go-to watch and bracelet and was ready to go.
I am also glad I looked up the rules because besides things like, “a hat, headpiece or fascinator should be worn at all times” it also warned that DSLR cameras would not be allowed in so I snapped a few nice shots of my look before we headed, literally, off to the races. (You will also notice my shoes change in the pictures below because I realized as I was shooting that the stiletto of my white Sam Edelman’s was bound to an unfortunate fate with the grass at Ascot and switched to a pale pink chunky heel at the last minute).

And enough of my look, a few photos from the day! We took the tube to Waterloo station and then got on a very crowded train for an hour down to Ascot but luckily got seats! Then we met up with a dozen friends for a picnic outside the racecourses grounds as were not able to bring food in and it was lunch time. This set us up well for the day (and all the rose) and we timed it quite well so we were able to see the Queen arrive ahead of the first races.

Does Royal Ascot look like something you would want to go to?

That is so much fun that you go to wear a hat. I love looking at photos from the Kentucky Derby every year and this is an even better version of that!
All of my love,

This is similar to America’s Kentucky Derby. Not into horse racing but into the fashion show. You rocked it. Your outfit was perfect. Best photo was the one with you with all of the other girls. I can tell you had a blast and no rain.

You look adorable and so brave to wear white but then I saw the group photo and you were not the only one. It must have been awesome to see all the fashions, hats and famous people. Are you going to another post on what everyone was wearing.
Must have been a fashion smorgasbord and I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall. Just being with all the royalty too must have been a hoot. Looking forward to seeing more.

OMG how much fun… the hat is perfect and I am glad you took so many photos of it as it really looks different from the many angles you showed us. I wish we had something like this in America…I know we have the derby but this looks like it was a perfect day and very social.
Glad you got to go. I have always wanted to go and learn more about what the day entails. Cool you got so close to the Queen!
