As you may have seen on social media on Saturday I took an early morning train out of New York City up to New Haven, Connecticut to head to Yale. One of my youngest cousin’s took up the family sport of swimming and I had the chance to meet my aunt, uncle, and Nana for the afternoon to watch her swim. While she is enrolled at Harvard in Boston the swim meet was a tri-meet against Yale and Princeton, hosted this year at Yale.
It was very, very odd to be back at this pool where I had a few meets in high school and one in college – it seems like such a long time ago but also, like yesterday. If you saw on Snapchat I filmed the 200 yard backstrokes, one of the events I swam the most frequently and it gave me so much nostalgia. Overall, I had a great time watching the girls put up some really fast times from all three teams though Yale won nearly every event!

As the meet was split into two parts – one part on Friday night and the other Saturday afternoon – and was girls only it flew by in less than two hours giving me a bit of time before my train home. My family headed back to Boston and I got an excellent cup of coffee and explored the campus – channeling my inner Rory – before heading back to the train station and New York City.
Have you ever been to a swim meet?
