Starting today I’m joining more than 2,000 swimmers in the UK and pledging to swim at least 10 miles in July to raise money for Breast Cancer Now! You may recall I have been swimming for a long time and sharing content to raise awareness for Breast Cancer so when I heard about this challenge it seemed like a perfect fit. I decided to participate in mid June and over the last two weeks swam 6.1 miles over five different sessions so I think I will be in a good position for this swim. However, I have two small trips planned where no pools will be available so I will need to plan ahead to make sure I cover at least 16,094 meters for this swimming fundraiser in July!
I am using my Apple watch and Strava to hold me accountable – over the last two weeks I have swum 6.08 miles which is pretty good considering the goal is at least 10 in July. That said, we do have a few plans to go away – like three days i the New fForest next weekend so I will need to plan my swims accordingly.
To give you a bit more background on this great cause, Breast Cancer Now is a UK charity that’s steered by world-class research and powered by life-changing care. The offer support for anyone affected by breast cancer, the whole way through, providing support for today and hope for the future. Ultimately their goal is to change the future of breast cancer and make sure that, by 2050, everyone diagnosed with the disease lives – and is supported to live well.
This is such an amazing cause so the least I can do is to get in the pool and help to raise awareness for this great charity and very important cause. To ensure all of the funds go directly to the charity (some sites take a 2% -5% handling fee), I have followed the charity’s recommendation and set up a Facebook fundraiser:

LuAnn says
Good for you and I hope that your swim isn’t too painful.
Such a great cause and I can’t wait to hear all about it.
Carol says
What a great idea and I hope you reach your fundraising goal.
Persephone says
Good for you and I hope you have a lot of money.
