The Time My Friends Got Fake Married

04/14/14 | Georgetown

Two years ago today two of my best friends from college, K and T, got fake married.  Yes, fake married.  Let me explain.  It was the month before we were set to graduate college – most people were all set on the job front, cruising in to non-existent finals, and we were all done swimming.  So what should we do on a Saturday?  Well how about stage a fake wedding for two of our close friends.  K and T had been inseparable best friends since the first week of our freshman year, and it was always a running joke that anyone who didn’t know them automatically assumed that they were dating. It only made sense to cap off our senior year and their fake relationship with a fake wedding.

Besides the bride and groom more than half of my sixty team mates were involved in some way. I was the wedding photographer (I took every photo that I am not in) and the bride’s makeup artist,  there were four groomsmen, four bridesmaids, a flower girl, a ring bearer, a fake rabbi, and a few dozen guests. Of course we also had plenty of champagne, a real wedding cake, and the only white dress K could find at Forever 21.  The whole day was amazing.

I sent K this question and her response was, “Well the facts are that we are still best friends even though he lives in dc and i’m here, we text every day and talk on the phone/Facetime at least once a week. We went on vacation together last summer and hopefully we’re going to do something like that every year. And eventually we want to live in the same city, ideally on the same street, next to each other. “
