This is my normal, everyday work make up. As my favorite make up artist, Christina, says – it takes way more products to look natural than it does for a smokey eye – and I could not agree more! You may not believe it only takes me five minutes as there are almost a dozen products but after hundreds of practices I have really got it down!
(1) PRIME: I used to be someone who never primed until I met the fabulous Brian from Tarte and he convinced me over the course of an hour and a half makeover that it was fantastic. I have to agree Brian, my makeup stays on so much better using this stuff and it better since I have invested the time and money to put it on! I use the Clean State Slate flawless 12-Hour Brightening Primer from Tarte (links at the bottom to all products.
(2) EYES: Playing up my eyes is my favorite thing to do and according to one friend – it would look like a ton of eye make up if I did not do it everyday, but because I do it looks normal on me – well, I am glad to here that. I start with the brows, just a few quick swipes of Sephora’s waterproof eyebrow pencil and one swipe of Benefit’s brow gel to hold them in place. Then I prime my lids with UD and use my favorite shade ever – YDK on my eyes. This is quickly topped with one long stroke of Sephora’s waterproof liquid liner on the top of each eye and two coats of Benefit’s They’re Real mascara.
(3) FACE. I like to keep it simple with my face because it is an every date look. I outline my face with NARS Bronzer and then sweep NARS blush from the apples of my cheeks up to the corners of my eyes. The most important beauty product I use is concelear. Right now I am in between colors so I cover my under-eye bags with a combination of HourGlass and Cle de Peau Beauty.
(4) FINISHING TOUCHES Starting last summer I began wearing lipstick everyday to work. My lips were no longer so dry that they needed a 24 slobbering of Aquaphor so I picked a healthy pink that I like to think works for all seasons. Finally, I am obsessed with Urban Decay’s de-slick setting and mattifying powder – it keeps everything in place all day!
Taking a cue from the amazing Cara over at Maskcara and half a dozen other beauty bloggers I admire here are the products I use in the order I use them and where you can buy them!
