My baby is ONE. One. ONE. How on Earth is that possible?! Mark and I have gone through dozens of photos in the past few days of our brand new baby with the dark hair and marvelled how much she has grown in the past 366 days. This is the 12th update in the series and it will be her last monthly update. I will do a recap in a few days to share more about her birthday celebrations but to cap off these posts I am going to do an update in the same style as the previous ones.
__________
Nicknames: Lily Girl! I call her so many things but Big Girl Lily and Squishy are definitely the top from her mama and Monkey from her Daddy.
Firsts: Lily has added two new words to her repertoire, “dada” and “nana” (for banana) which have joined “mama”. The big milestone has been Lily walking across rooms holding on to our fingers. At the start of March we went down to the coast and stayed in the New Forest for two nights but Lily was not sure what to make of the wild horses – I know when we take her back when she is older, she will love them.
However, I can not burry the lead any further, Lily is now a New Yorker! As my best friend pointed out, Lily has now lived on two different continents before the age of one. That’s my big girl. We have gone on multiple walks in Central Park, she had her first swing at a playground, and went on her first subway ride. I am sure the New York City firsts will just keep coming! She is starting her nursery in Manhattan next week and to get ready we bought her first pair of walking shoes but not interested in keeping them on.
Weight: Just over 20 pounds!
Length: 27 inches.
Teeth: Three teeth – two on the top and one on the bottom making for a lopsided but adorable grin.
Loves: We have been doing them for a few months but I am now positive Lily loves our weekly swimming lessons, especially the positive reinforcement she gets when going underwater leavings her beaming. She still loves waving at people as well as banging anything and everything together.
Hates: Box standard for Lily – being left alone or when mum or dad walks away and leaves her with another adult. This past month she has also started hating laying on her back on the changing mat and tries to wriggle away at any opportunity. Another of my friends told me recently it was like to wrangle a slippery alligator and this is very accurate.
Memories I Never Want to Forget:
- Lily dressed up for World Book Day as baby Zog and I still can’t get over the pictures.
- On Lily’s last day at her London nursery the amazing teachers and staff put together a book of memories and photos of her time there and it was truly touching – we will miss them!
- For a few months now Lily has flapped her hands and feet when she sees food she likes (berries, melon) but now also fake cries when they are gone.
- At the gardens in Windsor Castle Lily had her first meal (chicken, green peas, and french fries) from a kids menu, though she was only interested in the peas!
