I hope you all had a great weekend! It is hard to believe it is already mid May and that Memorial Day / the Late May Bank Holiday is right around the corner. A positive to most but I want to shift the tone of conversation today. A few weeks ago a coworker sent through a New York Times article introducing the concept of languishing and I could not relate more. The headline read “There’s a Name for the Blah You’re Feeling: It’s Called Languishing” and described the concept of languishing as the middle of burn out and tons of energy, the middle of depression and hope. Not all of you may relate to this but I certainly did.
I mentioned this idea in my newsletter two weeks ago -(shameless plug, are you signed up?) and I wanted to expand on it in today’s post. I am certainly languishing. We now crossed into the 15 month of the COVID pandemic and while there are hopeful things on horizon, there are also things like the India variant sweeping the global. So I am not full of energy but I am not at the point of burnout, it simply status quo and I am over here chugging along.
I had this post drafted and almost did not share as I was hoping that the excitement of today’s is a monumental milestone on the London Lockdown roadmap would push me over the edge to hopeful, but alas, no. And it is okay to note be 100% rainbows all day. A friend yesterday even said to me she has really been enjoying the “real life Kelly” I have been sharing on Instagram stories and I am vowing to do a bit more of that here on the blog too. Hopefully I can report back with another Real Life post in a few weeks but until then, I will be over here keeping on keeping on. And because it makes me happy and it is always nice to end on a positive, here is a photo of some gorgeous flowers.
Now I am curious, are you languishing?

I sometimes do and it is good to admit it. No one wants to seem perfect and we can’t always be upbeat and it is ok to say that.
Things are not always great or fine and also everyone makes mistakes sometimes. We are human and we need to share our vulnerabilities with people so that they can relate with every bump and wart!
