If you were able to go back and time and ask 15 year old Kelly what she thought of her school uniform, she would have told you it was the worst thing ever. A decade and a half later, some days I would tend to disagree with my teenage self, a uniform made getting dressed so easy. And perhaps this is why I still tend towards dresses – one piece and far less to match. Plus, with today’s book, black and white is such a classic combination!
I picked up this dress when we were in Salzburg, Austria in November and I must say, over the years I have been quite impressed with some of the H&M collaborations and this one was no different. In the Summer of 2019 famed scarf designer made pieces including this flowy black and white dress which is described in the collection bio as “wearable art inspired by the 1960’s”. While this exact dress is sold to you can still find the jumpsuit and the scrappy top in the same pattern on the website. I decided to this Richard Allen shirt dress it with black tights, a black clutch, and some red bottoms for a pop of color!

And the title of this post is a bit in homage to the meme that goes something like “growing up magazines made me think transforming an outfit from day to night would happen far more frequently than it does”. While I agree and appreciate that, I love outfits like this where all I have to do is switch the shoes, put on a swipe of red lipstick, and grab a clutch to really change the look!
What do you think of this Richard Allen Shirt Dress?

I love this dress on you. Even when I was a teenager I still preferred dresses and skirts over pants. I love those red bottom heels too.

Oh yes this is a great collaboration and a great dress. I loved how you styled it as well. And yes there are upsides to uniforms lol, yes you don’t have to think and it levels the playing field. I went to public school and we did not have money so it was challenging at times. In highs school I wore black all time as it was easy and you did not have to have many clothes.
