Nautical Home Decor

When I went to Florida last month for my friend’s wedding I was able to tack on an extra day to visit my parents.  I spent a wonderful time their over Christmas and New Year’s but this quick trip made me realize how much I love all of the nautical touches around  my parent’s house  – they are in my room, my brother’s room, in the common spaces and throughout the halls there are touches of the sea everywhere.  

Blue is my favorite color and I have a lot of it in my New York City apartment but all of these touches make it truly wonderful, even thought you can not see the beach or the ocean from the house it makes you feel like you are close. Some of these are actually pictures I have taken which is extra special but I was not able to get a shot of them, here are some of my favorites:
