The Perfect, Preppy Living Room

Over the course of the past few days the world lost two amazing women, Margaret Thatcher, former British Prime Minister and Lilly Pulitzer, a socialite turned fashion designer.  While the Iron Lady was nothing short of incredible this post is in memory of Lilly. Growing up in a very preppy suburb of New York City the vibrant colors of Lilly’s tropical inspired ready to wear were common place and for the past two decades her patterns have been a part of my life.  Lilly’s work has been described as representing the “wealthy and elite”,  but I think you can take her classic bold pink and green as inspiration to spruce up any room.

The beginning of this week I was in Florida and, as I mentioned on Tuesday, I went to a dinner party at an absolutely beautiful house.  (The same house that had the nautical bedroom many of you were swooning over). The owner is a Toronto based interior decorator and I am absolutely obsessed with her living room – it is definitely my dream preppy living room, take a look!

    I’m not digging that bathroom but the rest of the house is AWESOME! I love the color and style of the tile floors, the living room (it’s very beachy) and the dining room. This must have been a fantastic vacation for you! 🙂

    i love Lily Pulitzer’s pops of colors, I must admit I didnt really who she was but the names on the patterns and the handbags, so I had to wikipedia her.

    Those rooms are so cute too! I love bright bold colors.
