Classic Driving Mocks

04/12/13 | Cole Hann, Fashion and Style, Jack Rogers, Rainbows, shoes

As I mentioned yesterday, I am VERY exited that spring has actually arrived. However, it has not quite been warm enough for the “flip flop” rule.  My mom coined this phrase when I was in middle school to let me know whether or not it was warm enough outside to wear flip flops because I always wanted to pull out my Jack Rogers and Rainbows as soon as the snow melted.  This rule was established with a minimum of 65 degrees for flip flops, or really any open toe shoe to be worn.  Sadly, the ten day forecast does not show a single high above 63 for New York City so the flip flop rule will not quite be in effect.
My solution to warmer but not quite there yet footwear is a classic driving mock.  When I went shopping with my mom a few years ago I was surprised that she and I both liked the same pair of shoes in the Geox outlet in Woodbury Commons (a truly magical place and something I will be sure to blog about in the coming months).   Since I purchased these a few years ago and because they were from the outlet they are no longer available but here are some of my favorite colorful options for spring:
COLE HANN Trillby Driver
in Citrine, Pink Tourmaline,  Blue Topaz,
Sandstone, Aster Purple and Tango Red
SEBAGO Lucerne
in Milkshake, Coral, Grey, and Mint

PATRICIA GREEEN Milly Driving Moccasins
in Red, Turquoise, Camel, Cobalt Blue, Orange, and Green
Putting these collages together with Polyvore was almost painful, so many of these options are absolutely adorable I really had to restrain myself from purchasing them, especially the Pink Tourmaline Cole Hann’s or the Mint Sebagos.
Do you wear loafers? What are your in between shoes?

I think any shoes that are typically not worn with socks are the perfect in between shoe. But I’m with you, my toes are itching for sandal weather!

I’m usually a Cole Haan fan, but I think those Sebago’s trump the round this time. I like the softer colors.

I agree with the rule. Although I will admit, I wore my flips to class on Tuesday. It was just SO warm. I never thought of driving mocs as being a great alternative during warm but not warm enough weather. Plus, they’re more comfortable (for me) than flats.

I’ve never heard them called “driving mocks” before…that’s so cute! But you’re right, these are perfect to commute to work in. Even in the summer, I try not to wear flip flops too much when walking around the city–it grosses me out how dirty my feet get!

These all look so amazingly comfortable! I’m not quite ready for flip flops yet either – and my toes definitely are not ready yet.

    Have a great weekend!

It was so warm here earlier in the week so I was able to wear my sandals but now I’ve got boots on. I don’t think I own a pair of loafers but yours are really cute. Have a great weekend!
