Boot Storage DIY

03/25/13 | Amazon Prime, DIY, shoes

As you all know, Monday mornings are not my favorite but I do have something to celebrate – this is my 200th post on Sparkles & Shoes, goodness, how time flies.  I can not think of a better way to celebrate than with the arrival of spring and a Kelly-caliber DIY project from over the weekend – packing away my boots for storage as part of my spring cleaning.

Now, boots are obviously shoes, and shoes have a special place in my heart so in anticipation of a long summer (fingers crossed  and an impending move at the end of June I will definitely be moving these boots around quite a bit and when I unpack them in October I want them to be pristine, my solution?

BEFORE
After downsizing my boot collection, as part of my spring cleaning, there were 10 pairs that I am going to keep moving forward. Here are nine of them (my Wellies are not pictured).

THE PLAN:

After quite a bit of research it did not surprise me that the best deal I could find for swim noodles was on Amazon Prime.  (I do want to point out that I bought these noodles in FEBRUARY and 25 days in I am still succeeding in my goal of no online shopping this month.)   So I decided to spend $14.87 on five Foam Floating Swim Noodles.

I wanted a set of noodles that had a relatively small circumference , these have 2.5 in. diameter with hollow core so they would fit in even my skinny boots. dFor some of my boots I have the inserts that came with them but after years may of them have been damaged or lost so this year to properly store the boots I decided to use the pool noodles to support each pair of boots.

AFTER: SUCCESS!

Have you done your spring cleaning yet?  How did it go?
How do you store your boots in the off-season?

PS. In one week from today, April 1st, Sparkles and Shoes will have advertising options!

Ha ha…before I even read this, I was going to suggest the noodle boot stuffers! I went to the dollar store to get these over the weekend but they only had a couple left. I never really thought of Amazon prime, though. Great idea!

This is a genius idea–my boots always seem to get creases from being folded in weird ways in my closet. So nifty of you!

Cute idea! I always tend to lose the foam inserts that come with the boots, so this is a great solution.
