Henry James Six Month Update

Henry James, my happy little man. Wasn’t I just writing the last update?  How is it time for another one?  And how is this your half month birthday?

Nicknames:  Big Boy, Little Man, and Baby Henry are still the top three. 

Firsts:  There were so many  firsts in the last month that I had to switch to bullets  because it got to be too long of a paragraph: 

• Henry has now had nearly a full month of solid food and we are doing a combination of baby led weaning and purees and has yet to meet something he does not like, all while having a grand olde time in his Bumbo.
• First time to church (whoops) for his cousin’s baptism. I was obsessed with his little outfit 
• We had a long weekend in the Catskills over the four days that started with Juneteenth and it was full of so many firsts for the little man, his first road trip, his first hike, and his first beach day!
• Tried his first food and over the last two weeks is getting much steadier in his bumbo seat. 
• First bike ride in cape cod  (in the same Burley Bee Double Kids’ Bike Trailer Lily was in) and you can call it a success as he slept for more than half of the 20 mile ride.   
• 4th of July!   Lily has now celebrated the 4th of July three times in Cape Cod with my Dad’s family and I am so happy Henry is able to carry on this tradition.  It is crazy to think that last year we announced to my family that I was pregnant and this year he was here giving everyone cuddles!  

Weight:  I would still guess somewhere around the 15 pound mark but we will find out on Monday. 

Length:  Bigger than last month? Lol, again we will know on Monday. 

Teeth:  The second little tooth has arrived and his teething pain has finally ceased, thank goodness! Let’s hope it lasts for a while. 

Loves: This sentence from last month still remains 100% accurate, Henry loves, “Rolling around on his Lovevery Playgym and spending more time on his stomach than his back.”   Similar to Lily he really enjoys his Tummy Time Wobbler and loves when adults play with him, especially with toys that he can grab- bonus points if they make noise or you let him chew on them.  We have also started a consistent night time routine after Lily goes to bed and he loves the bath as long as he’s not too tired though Mark and I joke, how many seconds will it take before he starts chewing on the washcloth. 

Hates:    In addition to waking up with no one around, Henry hates being put in his Doona car seat (though only for 15 seconds, especially if you can distract him with his teething Sophie).  He also despises when you put a bib of any kind on him and definitely new this month, when you take too long feeding him (solids or milk). 

Moments I don’t want to forget:  I now have a running list in my phone because there are so many but here are six highlights: 

• Mark’s Mom came to visit from England and Henry had a wonderful second visit from grandma
• Swimming! I might love our weekly swim lessons more than him but it is a terrific bonding time and has gone underwater at least twice every lesson – big boy!
• Twice this month Henry has had true cousin playtime with Emily and since they are now both around 6 months old they can now truly interact with each other and it’s adorable to watch!
• Over the 4th of July weekend Henry enjoyed cuddle time with both great grandmas (lucky boy)
• We tried a few times but he really has outgrown his bouncer which is sad, it was such a good way to keep him occupied and he loved it. 
• Today, on his six month birthday Henry has his first, bread from a bread basket at his grandpa’s birthday dinner and LOVED it – that’s my boy!

I am really dreading that by the next time I write this post I will have been back to work for a few weeks but it makes me a bit less sad that Henry had a great trial week with his new nanny – to use the British expression, they get on like a house on fire. 

Baby bear, Mummy, Daddy, and Lily love you more than you will ever know and we will stop the list there (as we do) with only the people that live in our house otherwise we would go on and on forever.  And here are some of his favorites, most of which are linked above:
