Early Saturday evening my baby shower had ended, guests had gone home, and clean up was nearly complete. I turned to my mom standing in my Upper West Side kitchen and simply said, “I felt so loved”. Not to go to a sad place but this is not my first baby and not even my second baby, so why a shower when it is usually a sprinkle? Well, for Lily I had a wonderful celebration in the UK with six friends in England but I did not get the chance to celebrate with anyone from America – friends or family. Thus, we called Saturday’s festivities a baby shower and more than 20 wonderful ladies got together to celebrate our little boy, who we are calling “Baby Bear” for now.
I saw ladies as the majority of the afternoon was females only but for the last 30 minutes my dad, brother, Mark, and Lily joined us on the rooftop. It was great to have them as part of the festivities for a short while and this is when I remembered to take photos. The rooftop of my building was decorated so nicely but I was having too good of a time to photogaph it. This is actually my only regret is that I don’t have close up shots of all of the little details but they will be forever in my memory and pictures with my favorite people are always more important than pictures of things! Here are some of my favorite shots:
__________
Aunts, cousins, my mom, my SIL, and both grandmas!
My grandmas both making the trip (a three hour flight and a five-hour drive respectively) meant the world!
There are dozens of games and activities you can play at a baby shower but given the age range of ladies at my shower (spanning 7 decades!) I opted for decorating onesies and it was a hit. I bought the value pack of white unisex onesies from Carter’s along with fabric pens and iron on decals for guests to decorate. Last minute ended up getting these bibs with stencils too which ended up being a good idea.
While I had a few games planned we only ended up doing one – measuring my belly. Again, no good photos except the one below so you will just have to take my word for it that the game was a hit and while we had announced there was a prize for who got the measurement the closest (it was within half an inch!) there was also a secret prize for the person who guessed the furthest.
Thank you again to everyone who celebrated our little guy at this baby boy baby shower!
(And an extra special thank you to my parents, Kevin, Juliana, and Mark for going above and beyond with the setup, clearnup, and everything in between!)
