It is the first day of the first week of the New Year. With many people that mean’s time to set New Years resolutions. I did originally start a list which included eating healthy food, reading more books, exercising often, drinking more water, traveling, and enjoying life.
And then I stopped, sure, I could go on and on but then what? Those don’t have much accountability or way to quantify. Thus for the third year in a row I am throwing the term New Year’s Resolution out the window. Two years ago in 2022 I shared my affirmations for the New Year and in 2023 the theme of my post was take a step back so you can take a big jump forward or step back to jump better. And now for this year, I am going to simplify it even further – my one word of this new year is strong. My 2024 mantra:
This year I am going to be strong.
I am going to be strong mum for Lily.
I am going to be a wife, daughter, sister, and friend who is strong and accountable.
I am going to be strong willed individual who is is not easily influenced or worried by other people.
I am going to be a strong athlete and become comfortable in my own skin and with what I put in my body.
. . .
but wait, those sound like resolutions. Let’s back up.
This year I am going to be strong and strive to echo that in every facet of my life but I am also going to give myself grace that that might manifest in different ways.
Do you have a 2024 mantra?
Richard says
I just want to try to be more patient.
Also not to interrupt people in my effort to enthusiastically engage with them! That one will take a bit of work.
Becky says
I want to be strong right with you.
That is a wonderful way to look at life and to not beat yourself up over little things.
Look forward to another great year of your blog

What a great post. I think we all need to give ourselves a big, humping full of grace.
Most of us are good people trying to do the right thing most of the time. We are not perfect. We make mistakes. We need to forgive ourselves and we need friends who also forgive us when we do make a mistake. We are human. A good friend knows you have a good heart and will accept your mistakes.
Wishing you a wonderful year.
