I am so sad to be headed back to England after the most wonderful holiday in the States. We flew down to Florida for a week (nine days if we are being specific) to spend time with my family in Florida and it was just the best. The first part was more like a vacation and the second half when my brother, SIL, and extended family joined us it became a long weekend celebrating both Thanksgiving and Christmas, thus Thanksmas in Florida.
In case you are not familiar with the little used term of Thanksmas, let me explain. Being married with families that live far apart means you often have to split holidays – for instance your family at Thanksgiving and your in-laws at Christmas. That is exactly what we are doing this year, especially as the holidays are only a month apart and a 10 hour flight whit a baby is not only long but pricey. Thus we celebrated Thanksgiving on the traditional day, this past Thursday and then Christmas two days later on Saturday. Getting presents sorted in November was both a bit stressful, especially to buy before Black Friday, but it was quite successful. Here are some of my favorite shots from those I loaded on our journey home.
___________
Lily in the heated pool with me and Grandpa (Lily’s swimsuit and my swimsuit)

Our traditional Thanksgiving Pies – from left to right pecan, pumpkin, apple, and chocolate pudding

Southwest Florida was hit hard last Fall by Category 4 Hurricane Ian but it many places you can see the rebuilding underway!

Lily’s Uncle Kevin playing with her and her Lovevery Nesting Stacking Cups from the The Inspector Play Kit

So many of my favorite things – lunch on the beach with fresh fish and veggies, multiple beverages and SPF.

My family (minus Lily) on our last night

My plate for Thanksgiving dinner

All smiles with Lily who was wearing the H&M Baby 2-piece Pointelle Jersey Set

The “before” of Christmas morning, complete with crackling fire on Youtube

Spending time in the water was definitely a theme, swimming with her at sunset

Lily’s first time in the Gulf of Mexico
(the water was far too cold for Lily so she did not even put on her swimsuit but did enjoy getting her toes dipped in the water)

And one bonus shot that is not from our week in Florida, the day before we left England when I picked Lily up from nursery her teacher’s handed me this adorable print when I picked her up. I am sorry but it is just too cute not to share, Lily’s first piece of artwork, her foot print turkey.

Which is your favorite shot from our Thanksmas in Florida?

Awesome moments. Best of the best is Lily dipping her toes in the Gulf of Mexico.

Yummy, yummy, yummy. I am getting hungry just looking at all these sumptuous delights. Those are some of my favorite pies and I only get pecan at Thanksgiving as no one else in my family really likes it. I would have had so much fun plus pool time as a bonus during your holiday.
I had a great holiday with my family and it looks like yours was extra special with lots of your family and an extended stay.
Happy post turkey and early Christmas.

Clever title and you certainly did celebrate both holidays.
Never would have thought that Lily would look good in red but she does. The navy blue dress certainly suits her as well.
Looks like you had a great time over the pond.

You have so many good shots. I can’t tell which one I like better. Lily is really getting so big and just adorable. What I’m really jealous about. Is that lunch on the beach? My goodness that looks amazing.
So glad you got to spend time with your family. Looks like you had a wonderful time.

Yummy all that great food and those pies…can I come to your house next year please.
Also those Christmas gifts…make sense and they were all decorated so beautifully but no surprise with your family.
Glad you had fun.
