When London plunged into Lockdown number two after Christmas I made a long list of things I wanted to do in England while international travel was banned. Some we were able to cross of right away and other I had to wait for, especially if they were seasonal. Yesterday, I was able to tick another one off my list – a trip to the Mayfield Lavender Farm.
I have followed the Instagram page of these farmers for more than year now because while the farm opens every year on June 1st you want to ensure you go when the purple is in full bloom. they shared that there was some color in mid June, on June 24th it was starting to bloom, and last week in made BBC headlines that the lavender was in peak season. Thus Mark and I hoped in the car and headed down to this family-run, organic lavender farm in Banstead.
I had originally wanted to do a full photoshoot in with a flowy dress in these fields but the weather had other plans. Thus decked out in warm clothes and my new North Face rain jacket Mark and I wandered through the gorgeous fields of the 25 acre Mayfield Lavender Farm. Per usual, Mark was not interested in being in any photos but nicely took quite a few of me, take a look:
Would you want to go to the Mayfield Lavender Farm?

Okay, so really, a phone booth in the middle of the lavender field…sooo British.
Makes for a super photo. Fun spot Kelly.

The bees hard at work sign is too cute.
With the huge shortage of bees in the world it warms my heart to see so many alive and well and mostly likely well fed too.
Such a pretty deep shade of purple too for the lavender. Nice day trip.

I never have seen lavender growing before. The colors are spectacular! I am sure it smells Devine.
