With masks becoming the new normal I have shifted my makeup routine along with quite a few other things. While medical grade masks are the way to go in many situations – including traveling – but in other situations double lined fabric ones due the truck. Thus a swipe of color just makes a mess and even a high cheek highlight comes off. Despite some not wearing makeup in lockdown I have gone the other way, especially when it comes to eyes. Bring on the big, bold lashes!
I have featured mascara countless times over the years and it’s made its way into a number of gift guides. As I work my way through my own gifts, samples, and profits I’ve purchased after reading reviews I’ve tried almost two dozen madras in the past year. And today, I am sharing my favorites for bold lashes:
– I am overly loyal to their concealer and despite the glowing reviews I only tried this one recently but it certainly does pack a punch. The color really is a glossy black and it is clear why it is one of Sephora’s best sellers.
– A tried and true winner I have been wearing for years, along with it’s waterproof counterpart – and when it says it is smudge-proof and does not flake, you should definitely believe it. Plus right now it is .
Sweed Lash Lash Lift Mascara . – when the first three words in a description are lift, length, and volume I can tell it’s going to be my kind of mascara. This one is true black, true does define the lashes and I really like the skinny wand which you can see in some of the close up shot.
– This baby is an absolute show stopper and definitely worth the hefty price tag (it is the most expensive of these five). Like the Sweed one the special wand, which they call The Swan Neck™ really makes a difference – though be careful, it is not waterproof!
– This staple provides good volume and is an every day go to for work video calls. It may not be as big of a ‘wow’ bold lashes but some Tuesday’s just don’t need that.
And before I sign off, does anyone remember this 2015 post featuring the Sephora Collection Outrageous Curl Mascara? It was my number one for years and I was devastated when they discontinued it- but onwards and upwards!
Lastly, I have shared this adorable before on Instagram but wanted to leave the link as well. This triple layer design even has room for a filter and I purchased it from Etsy direct from a local UK shop, Elizabeth Merlin!
How do you feel about bold lashes?

Charlotte says
Gosh your lashes are so long. I am really jealous of how good looking your are.
I will have to try a few of those mascaras and see if I can improve my look.
Alice says
I really love bold lashes as long as they don’t look too fake. I like thick and numerous lashes and try to put on three or four coats as long as it doesn’t get too clumpy looking.
Also found that a safety pin works really well to declump my lashes if they get stuck together.

I have tried all of these except Sweeds, will have to check them out!
Molly says
I agree, my favorite mascaras have unusual wands, it really helps you get that wow look.
Some do look really strange when they come out of the cylinder and my boyfriend looks at me with wary eyes but likes the outcome. He says that it makes my eyes look even more beautiful. Yes he is a keeper.
Amy says
That mask is so cute, and I love that you are shopping small.
Tessa says
I’ve always been scared to try fake eyelashes. This might give me the courage to try.
Sally says
Great finds Kelly.
