Enviable Ombre Perfection

I am in the mood for a hair change and am very close to pulling the trigger on a subtle ombre look.  I worry though because I dyed my hair dark, deep brunette, aka black, in October and the allure wore off after a few days.  Thank goodness it was only semi-permanent and my hair is back to its normal color with touches of sun-kissed dirty blonde. 

Waking to the bar to celebrate Elizabeth’s birthday on Saturday night I mentioned wanting to try the ombre hair trend and Elizabeth very rightly asked – hasn’t that trend passed?  Then my high school bestie Emily chimed in that a women she works with has an ombre do so drastic someone thought it looked like a rats hair.   Well, goodness, that is not something I would ever want. 

I never realized quite how many celebrities have been rocking ombre hair for the last year or two until I went on a high definition Google Image search and came across actresses Jessica Alba, Hilary Swank, Lia Michelle, Drew  Barrymore, Gwyneth Paltrow, Rachel Bilson and Olivia Wilde and reality stars Khloe Kardashian, Lauren Conrad, and Giuliana Rancic to name a few.  From this search here are seven of my favorites:
