Patterns and Pearls

Happy Friday!  While sports are over in the United States the playoffs of rugby have just started and England plays again this weekend.  Last weekend they lost to Scotland and I had a very unhappy fiancé on my hands so fingers crossed this Saturday goes better! Though regardless of that outcome there is definitely something to look forward to on Sunday, Valentine’s Day!  I asked last week on Instagram for advice on what to wear and I am excited to get dressed up for our date day.

This option with a pearl headband was in the running and even though it was outvoted, I still wanted to share it here today. Similar to the leopard coat I shared last week for Fashion Friday, there seems to be a surge of red making its way into my closet.   While this may be too bold or too harsh of a color for some the quote from The Holiday, one of my favorite Christmas movies, always comes to mind, “But try it in a red. Like a happy red, not like a Scorsese red.” And that is how I would describe the color of this dress – a happy red!  Take a look:

This dress, while it looks like it would be a fit for a February day, is actually a bit too warm to wear inside.   It is made of Merino wool but is far from itchy – I really like the soft texture, wide boat neck, and the ribbed sleeves.  I just checked and this Knit Boat Neck Long Sleeve Flare Dress in Red Is on final sale, hurry while they still have some left! And while the dress does add a good statement I decided to pair it with a wide pearl headband.   I think it complements the bag and gives the outfit a good pop.
