It has been 10 days since we got back from vacation and now it feels like I am back into the swing of things – back to normal life and back to normal exercise. While I feature mainly “real” outfits on Fashion Fridays for the last few months I have been spending more and more time in my workout attire. Every day except one i have gotten properly dressed for work but post 7pm on weekdays or weekends? You will likely find me in athleisure. Part of this is because I try and squeeze in physical therapy whenever I can and partially because it is just super comfortable. This is not to say I sit around in my padded bike shorts but it’s certainly not full makeup and heels. I am also trying very hard for the next few weeks (or fingers crossed, months) to exercise outdoors on our balcony before it gets too cold or too dark to do so.
And yes, while you mainly see shots of my PT or videos of my Peloton spinning I am also trying to work in yoga and pilates. Historically these have not been my first choice because I don’t see them as a real workout as I have to then also do something else to get a good burn In. However, I’ve found supplementing my harder workouts with low impact and stretching activities helps my mobility and limits my injuries which as I get older is more than more important! So for today, take a look at one of my favorite yoga looks, this one from London based company, Sweaty Betty:
Top | Sweaty Betty Yoga Tank with in Storm Blue
Leggings | Sweaty Betty Power Mesh Capri Gym Leggings in Black
Yoga Mat | Heathyoga Eco Friendly Non Slip Yoga Mat
In case it is hard to read in the photo the shirt reads “self care (noun) the art of being kind to yourself” and it’s a good reminder. I also like that it is a lightweight fabric and loose fitting – good for twisting and all of the other odd yoga movements! If your feelings about yoga are like me I suggest you check out Yoga for Athletes which is a class designed to improve performance and develop greater flexibility. I try and take it once a week as a great stretch session as I mentioned, prevent injury!
And yes, it’s been 19 years but I’ll never be able to look at the date 9/11 the same way. Working from home and I’m another country there will not be a the same moments of silence but there will always be in my heart on this day for all those we lost.
What do you think of this self care yoga look?
Lucy says
I like the look and it appears to be really comfortable.
Seems like I am living in my comfy work out/yoga clothes most of the time so always looking for a few more piece for the new normal work from home look.

Too funny, just came back from yoga and have a few minutes so catching up on your blog.
I started yoga a few years ago after getting hurt several times from not being limber enough. Almost too many muscles which I never thought was a bad thing but it can be. Also, yoga done the right way I find gives me a lot of inner core strength and balance never mind the much needed brain pause I get during the hour.

Looks super comfy, I will have to take a look at their offerings.
Just started doing more yoga myself and I feel taller.
Adi says
I always wanted to try yoga. But I feel like it may be too hard for me.

That outfit is so cute! Do you like your mat? Mine is not wide enough so I’m in the market for a new one.
