When I moved go the UK many things did not make the cut to go in one of the few suitcases I moved across the Atlantic but this ostrich tote definitely made the list. It felt only right because it originally came from Europe and it was time to come home.
This beautiful bag came into my life eight years ago during the Summer of 2011 in the magical city of Florence, Italy. Just before I headed South to study abroad in Rome I spent a few days with my Mom and Grandma shopping in the outdoor markets, massive stores, and local shops. There were a few things I had in mind that I wanted to purchase and one was a beautiful bag to take home as a keepsake. It was not until the last day that I cam across this s brown, carmel colored ostrich tote with gold hardware.
Like most girls, I have a handful of trusty go-to pieces that I immediately gravitate towards and that is the backbone of these Really Love My … posts. I read once that the average person wears 20% of their clothes 80% of the time and I absolutely believe it. While this ostrich tote is not actually a piece of clothing, it might as well be – it is the perfect neutral accessory and more than eight years later I can still say I am very pleased with my pick and it has definitely cemented itself into that 20% of my closet.
The only interesting thing to note – for a piece I have had for almost a decade I have far less photos of it than I thought I would. I think this is because it is not big enough (not would I want to ruin it) by throwing my DLSR in it so the shots I have are from events where others took the photos or NYFW were I willingly carried along my camera in addition to my handbag. Take a look at some photos from over the years – including a fun Guest of the Guest 2011 throwback which is pre-Sparkles and Shoes!
