Last night I was a bit delayed in responding to a text and quickly shot back, “sorry, had to get the brownies out of the oven”. My boyfriend’s immediate response was, “what, in this heat?”. Well, to some a hot English Summer evening in July may not be the best time to bake brownies (especially since we do not have air conditioning over here) but to me it was perfectly normal.
And the same goes for lighting candles in Summer – there is no bad time to light a candle and I just love how a delicious scented candle can make any space feel so much more inviting and like home. Granted, in July I am not turning towards a heavy seasonal scent like pumpkin spice or Christmas cookie but something light and fresh is bound to put a smile on my face. Plus, even when it is warm I do not find that candles radiate enough heat to add to the temperature, whereas I misters or diffusers I feel like can add to the heat and humidity. However, my love of candles is not a new thing – I posted about My Thoughts on Luxury Candles back in 2017 and in 2015 shared a tour of my New York City apartment which feature many candles!
Over the weekend I stumbled across these Olivia Blake candles and they are SO British in that nearly every scent had tea in them but two I just could not stop sniffing – the Wild Mint & White Tea one as well as the Black Tea & Plum scent so they both made it home with me. They were not super pricey but I can not find them anywhere online so if you are local to the UK, take a look in local shops! But if you are dying to find some on line I am a long time fan of the Capri Blue Mercury Glass Candle options – truly great summer candles – and they can be found nearly every Anthropologie store!
Do you have any favorite Summer candles?

I love candles but I really like Essential Oils as well and am quite partial to lavender!

The Capri Blue Mercury Glass Candle is my go to hostess gift. I have never found anyone who doesn’t like it. Good call.
I have never heard of this brand but am off to London in a few weeks to visit a dear friend and will be on the lookout for it. Sometimes with all the AC in the states we need a hint of scent that isn’t overpowering. Will give it a try.

I always forget about summer candles except for tea lights when eating out of doors so no I don’t have any favorites but thanks for the reminder.
I am going to try these and will let you know what I like the best.
