I know yesterday was the first day of Fall but I want to share the last licks of Summer before we move forward with all things Autumn. One week ago today I was really sad to have to leave New Hampshire and my mini family reunion that it seems crazy was only a week ago! We had a very busy weekend biking, hiking, and waterskiing. If you live in New England you will know while the Carolina’s had insane rain we have had a bit of a heatwave so instead of sweaters and fall foliage I opted for Summer dresses and time in the water!
After arriving ver late on Friday I thought there would be no better way to shake up the cobwebs then with a hike and for the first time we went up my Cardigan. I was a bit hesitant to go the long way as I was fighting off a cold but I am glad we did. (And if you are counting, yes, this was my second visit to the U.S. within a week, just trying to make sure that I am still deserving of that #travelblogger, joking, but only half way).
My Dad had lovingly looked into the weather and we decided Sunday was going to be the nicest day of the weekend so we made that the boat day. As it was past Labor Day there were very few people on Lake Sunapee and I water skiied both before and after lunch. The 80 degree sunshine was just what the Doctor ordered – the only thing that would have made it perfect was some red fall folliage but I was a bit too early for that!
^^ My Dad is a much better water skiier than I am and I love the action shot of him jumping the wake.
Not pictured were some great meals – including dinner at the Inn at Pleasant Lake – and an epic 25+ mile bike ride on the famous rail trail before I had to head back to London. It was too short of a weekend but hopefully as you can see, I tried to make the best of it!
Overall it was such a great weekend by the Lake and I loved getting in a little R&R!

Looks like you had an awesome couple days. How tall was that mountain? It looks like it’s really high.
Thanks for sharing the water skiing photos too. Is that really a lighthouse? There really is a lighthouse on a lake? Why would they do that?
Great photos to and you’re adorable on the Caboose.

Looks like you had a picture perfect weekend. Water skiing, biking ,hiking. How much fun.
I guess that leaves hadn’t turned color yet? I’ve been to New Hampshire and Vermont before but not sure when the leaves start to turn. Glad you had some time for some R&R with your busy travels.

Covered bridges are the best.
