Hair Color After Dying

Hello! Hello from me and my new hair!  You may have seen a preview of this on Insta Stories.  Every Fall I’d love to change hair and this season is no different. As the temperatures dropped into the 20’s on Saturday, I dyed my hair dark.

Today, I am sharing my experience with  Schwarzkopf Color Ultime Hair Color . Check below pictures to give you a glimpse of what my hair looked like before I dyed it. (And don’t worry; there is a side by side at the end!)

Hair Color Before Dying

For all the things fancy things I do, dying my hair is not one of them. Not when I was able to get myself a box of hair dye at Walmart’s Health and Beauty section for less than $10. This product is also available at Walmart online.  I actually had a hard time deciding which color to pick as there were so many gorgeous shades to choose from!  As I really loved my chocolate brown hair from two years ago , I decided to go with velvet brown this time around!

I loved how simple the instructions were. It made it very hard to mess up!  I rigorously followed the seven easy steps written on the product’s packaging for best results and safety. First, I put on a pair of disposable gloves. Then I mixed the dye according to the specifications written on the packaging. Then I placed the mixture on my hair, starting with the roots as they had never been color treated down to the ends. The whole process took 25 minutes although the duration may vary from person to person. As always, it took quite a few rinses for all the dye to come out (you know, because the water runs clear) but after I put on the conditioning treatment my hair felt amazing!

The color is called velvet brown and I think that is a great description for the final product.  As I have dyed my hair a few times, I know sometimes the final product looks different from the photo but this really was true-to-box color and I am impressed with the amount of shine! I am also glad it picked up the red hints in my hair as well, this is the perfect temperature as it gets cold outside.

I know hair coloring is not for everyone but I love that Schwarzkopf is running a Try Me Free promotion where you can avail of a free trial of Schwarzkopf Hair Care or Hair color product for free from the their Schwarzkopf® Gliss™, color ULTIME® or Keratin Color lines!  For more information, visit the Social Hub .

Before and After Schwarzkopf Color Ultime

For more details about Schwarzkopf Color, you can visit their site and  earn up to $5 on Ibotta when you purchase any shade of Schwarzkopf Color Ultime (the specific brand I used above).

For those of you who think that this shade is too dark, kindly check my 2013 post  “I Dyed My Hair … and No One Noticed? ” and you can find that my hair was also this color way back then.

Oh, and I thought it would be only suitable  if I showed you guys my hair after a few washes instead of a few minutes. I love it even more now and it works perfectly with my Fall wardrobe which is filled dark dresses, tights, and of course some fantastic shoes!  Take a look!

I will have to try this brand. I usually use L’Oreal but up for trying something new especially as you said it made your hair shiny.

    Thanks!

Looks good….I will have to order a box. I also love shopping on line with Walmart as now they offer free shipping on orders over $35. I will add a box of this to my next order. Trying new products is great especially when someone has had good results with it.

    Stay warm, Sue

it looks pretty easy to use. Was it? I have never colored my hair myself before but am tempted to try it. Thanks for recommending it to me. It could save me a lot of money.

Do you notice a big difference from Salon vs. do it yourself outcomes?

Love that color on you. Hard to see the red highlights in the photo but I am sure that I will see them in future posts.

I will have to give this brand a try!

    Thanks for sharing.

I like the darker color for the fall and yes it does look shiny. I would try a bit blonder for me with my coloring!

    You look great.
