After college and nearly 10 years of high intensity swimming I swore off all “intense” exercise for a year. And it definitely showed. And it took a couple years to get back into the swing of it but now, in 2017, I relish the chance to get a hard workout in and I am lucky this is something my parents are also on board with. Taking it down a step from our 34-mile round trip bike to Arnold’s our second Cape Cod Bike Ride was only 11 miles each way, for a total of 22 miles. As opposed to biking up Cape Cod this ride was to Woods Hole and another one of my favorite places to eat in Cape Cod – Quick’s Hole Tavern. But first, a look at the ride: which is a gorgeous paved path over old train lines that switches from scenic water views to wooded stretches an back which I tried to capture below;
After a beautiful ride it was time for food! Two years ago I wrote a post called the Cape’s Best Scallops featuring the food at Quick’s Hole Tavern and I stick by what I said. I feel like a real old timer having dinner at 5pm but in order to eat, enjoy it, and then bike the 11 miles home you need to start early because biking in the dark is scary and dangerous. This trip Quick’s Hole Tavern my Dad and I split the Burrata Caprese Salad with heirloom tomatoes, burrata, olive oil & balsamic and then my Mom and I both had the Seared Sea Scallops with summer vegetable succotash, bacon and arugula salad and my Dad had the Grilled Salmon with roasted fingerling potato, haricot verts, lardons and lemon dill beurre blanc sauce. To finish off the excellent meal we split the Bag of Doughnuts with raspberry créme Anglaise – SO GOOD. We pretty much go for the same thing every time but the dinner menu has so much to offer!
We ate quickly so we were able to stop a few times on the way back for me to take pictures! 🙂 Overall, it was a gorgeous ride and I treasure family memories like this!
Oh, and just to make this travel post / life update a bit sweeter I have paired up with some great bloggers for a Chromebook Giveaway (the HP 14” Chromebook – $200 ARV).
