This weekend was a jam packed and one of the most best in recent memory – one that I need a day or two to recover from. Currently one of my best friends is sitting next to me on my couch visiting from London and I am so excited to have her here for the week but before she arrived I spent Saturday afternoon and evening at a gorgeous wedding. Despite the near 100 degree temperatures I had fun with dozens of friends from college at the wedding of my friends Mallory and Wes.
One of the best things about local weddings is that you can travel the day of. Therefore Saturday morning I survived the heat taking a hour outdoor Crossfit bootcamp before heading to Drybar for a blowout. I had considered canceling with the heat of humidity but I wanted to look great for the wedding so I kept the appointment and I am glad I did. I ended up going for a tighter version of their classic curled Cosmo style knowing it would fall in the six hours before the ceremony and if you follow me on Snapchat you saw the whole thing unfold. In case you did not, two shots:
After the blowout I headed home, picked up my bag, and then made the trip to Grand Central where I met up with four friends and boarded a train from New York City to Darien, Connecticut for the wedding. Once off the train we went to the hotel, checked in, got dressed, survived a brief wine fiasco, and got on the shuttle to the Tokeneke Club where all of the celebrations were to take place!
This was the first wedding I have ever been to not in a church and it was great how seamlessly the 16 minute non-denominational ceremony went straight in to the cocktail hour and then the dinner and merriment. My friend Mallory was an absolutely stunning bride and though asked not to take pictures during the ceremony I snapped one as it was over and they announced there would be a custom Snapchat filter for the nautical and baseball themed beach wedding!
Mal and Wed did a custom first dance and it was incredible! They had practiced it many times, I know, but watching them it just looked so effortless and perfect. You may have noticed the groom, Wes, wore his Navy whites for the actual ceremony but changed into a blazer and boat sheos to match his groomsman for cocktail hour and the reception. In the dance he picked Mal up, swung her around, and it was magical plus I love that you can see the ocean in the background of their first dance, perfect for their beach wedding!
My second favorite photo of the night? A great shot of the 12 Georgetown University swimmers at the wedding including both the bride and the groom. It was incredible to get to see some of these swimmers who I have not seen in months or even years, to all get together outside of the pool. This group of amazing people swam every stroke and competed across four different years, love you swammers!
But as great as my fellow Hoyas are it nothing can top this shot I got with the bride and groom just before we sat down for dinner!
Congratulations Mal and Wes, your wedding was incredible
and thank you so much inviting me to be a part of it!

I haven’t checked in here for a while as I thought it was getting boring, but the last few posts are
great quality so I guess I’ll add you back to my everyday bloglist.
You deserve it my friend 🙂

Looks like that you had a lot of fun despite the heat. Can’t believe that you did a Crossfit bootcamp class first and then get your hair blown out before traveling to the wedding. I guess this Saturday you will bike ride the entire length of Park Ave for City Streets. I did last Saturday and it was awesome.
