Soccer is Just Like Swimming

In competitive swimming if I look at someone’s times I can tell you whether or not they swam fast – it is objective, yes or no.  It is not important what they looked like while they competed or how their opponents did, in swimming all that matters is how fast you were able to propel yourself from one wall to the other.  The same is true with track events – either someone ran fast or they did not.  Then you have soccer – you are playing a game with a ten teammates on a field that is 120 yards long and so many things can happen during 90 minutes of play.   Once you factor in the opposing team, dozens of rules, wether conditions, and referees there are far too many variables for me to keep it all straight. There is one thing I can appreciate though – if you are playing in the World Cup, you have reached an elite level of soccer.  Congrats.

So how are soccer and swimming the similar?  The attractive men. For the next month the 2014 FIFA World Cup will be played out in Brazil and there are some truly beautiful men running, kicking, and sweating their hearts out for their countries.  Here are a few of my favorites:
