Why I have I not done a post about Venice yet when I have written about both Rome and Florence in other Past Adventures? Because I love the other two more. I know. Please do not be mad. I have to say though, it is like choosing your favorite flavor of ice cream – my defaults will always be Black Rasberry and Mint Chocolate chip but that does not mean I do not like Rocky Road or Butter Pecan – those are delicious as well. I have visited Venice or Venezia as the locals call it twice and both times I walked away things, “this city is really cool.” The above picture is my favorite because of the composition and because I think it does a great job embodying the life of the city.
On my most recent trip I took hundreds of photos of the city of canals but made the idiotic move to leave them all on my MacBook so when that died two years ago most of the pictures perished with it. Thank goodness there were a dozen or so I uploaded to Snapfish for prints which made it easy to download them for this post.
All of the photos above are from my second trip but while visiting the city my two favorite things on the first trip were and riding in an authentic gondola and feeding the pigeons in St. Marks’s square, which I have sense heard is illegal.

On my second trip I would have to add a visit to the Doge’s Palace with the special prisons tour and a trip to the nearby island of Murano famous for it’s glass making. And if the first picture was my favorite, this has to be my second favorite. Sure it could have been taken anywhere in the world -pretty flowers on a stucco but I know it was taken on a memorable vacation to Venezia which makes it special to me.

Thank you for sharing these pictures. In fact, I’ve never been to this part of Italy. I’ve been to Rome and Milan but not Venice. Maybe some day soon.

Love the pictures! I was in Venice for 3 days and I miss it so much. I think out of Venice, Florence & Rome, Venice was definitely my favorite. Florence is still super special to me because I lived there for a month.

These pictures are AMAZING! I’m so sad I didn’t get to go to Venice during my Europe trip a few years ago. It’s on my must-see list FOR SURE next time. We hit Rome, Pisa, and areas in Tuscany but never made it to Venice π Looks like you had an AMAZING time!
