Holiday Nails

12/13/13 | Christmas, Fashion and Style, Manicure, nail polish

I write these blog posts six days a week and sometimes, I wonder, does anybody actually read them? In the beginning I am absolutely positive my mom was my only reader (thanks mom), but wasn’t everyone’s?   Sixteen months later I know people do read this little blog of mine, Google Analytics tells me so, and I get wonderful feedback but does anybody actually think about Sparkles and Shoes after the four minutes they spend on this site?

I think about this more than you might guess, so I was incredibly excited to hear that when I posted about nail polish a month ago and showed my favorite holiday nail design that not one but TWO people printed out Sparkles and Shoes and brought it to the nail salon.  Here was the design I suggested:

And here are shots of both Pam and Patti rocking the red and gold:

I am so happy! I actually got to see Patti’s nails in person over Thanksgiving – that is my hand holding hers – and my Mom sent me this picture of Pam’s a few days ago.  I love knowing that posts I put lots of time and effort into have an impact on other’s lives, even if it is as small as your choice of nail polish.

In the spirit of holiday giving, I am giving thanks.  Thank you to those loyal readers who stop by S+S every day, whether you leave a comment or not.  It means a great deal to me that you take the time to make this blog part of your day.  And along the same lines, thank you Kristin for letting me know that my Gift Guide for Men actually helped you find a present for you guy.  But I digress, thank you readers for stoping by and here are eight other fantastic holiday nail designs I recommend in addition to the one above:

What do you think of holiday nails?
Personally I would rock these:

I saw the candy cane ones on Pinterest a few weeks ago and loved them. Right now I’m blood red with a gold glitter accent nail. When I say blood red, I mean it looks straight from the vein. It’s a gorgeous color and holiday nails are always fun. I really like the green, string of lights and snowmen ones. I’d do these thigns but I’m soo impatient.

I have the worst nails too…and add law school stress into the mix and they’re normally too short to do anything pretty to because I don’t want to draw attention to them. However, I just started doing an “overlay” for the first time and I’m OBSESSED. It’s like, acrylics, but without the glued on tip. So, it just makes your nails really really strong, and you grow them out and file them and treat them just like your own. Seriously, it’s changed my nail game forever…Just as an FYI 🙂

I just love the green and gold combo. Red is so expected around the holidays (it’s on my nails right now haha!) that the green is a nice-but-still-festive change of pace. And the single gold accent nail? Brill haha!

I have really horrible nails most of the time (thin nails, nail biter) so the only way I would be able to do these right now is with acrylics, but I love the blue snowflake one!
