Building the Ark

10/19/13 | family

My maternal grandmother is very hip and VERY tech-savy lady.  She had an iPhone and a MacBook air when I still had a Razr flip phone and a clunky Dell computer.  She has completely embraced technology and I love her for it.  She often passes along chain emails filled with beautiful photographs and heart-wrenching stories.  These emails are such a nice change from the others that fill my inbox ranging from spam, emails trying to sell me things, or notifications from my bank/library/gym/ect.

But now the to the title of this post, Building the Ark.  My grandmother, who I call Memé is full of sage advice on a wide range of topics from how to bet when you are playing Back Alley Bridge to dating tips.  I know my grandmother did not write this list but when I opened the email and started reading I felt like all of these are things she would say followed by her infectious laugh.  So without further ado, Noah’s Ark : Everything I need to know, I learned from Noah’s Ark.

ONE: Don’t miss the boat.

TWO: Remember that we are all in the same boat!

THREE: Plan ahead. It wasn’t raining when Noah built the Ark .

FOUR: Stay fit. When you’re 60 years old, someone may ask you to do something really big.

FIVE: Don’t listen to critics; just get on with the job that needs to be done.

SIX: Build your future on high ground.

SEVEN: For safety’s sake, travel in pairs.

EIGHT: Speed isn’t always an advantage. The snails were on board with the cheetahs.

NINE: When you’re stressed, float awhile.

TEN: Remember, the Ark was built by amateurs; the Titanic by professionals.

This list made me laugh and nod my head in agreement and my favorite item on the list has to be number three followed closely by number ten.  This list made me very happy and I see it as an interesting take on Robert Fulghum’s famous poem “All I Really Need To Know I Learned In Kindergarten”. It is mainly common sense but common sense that it does not hurt repeating until it becomes a mantra!

Thank you Meme for passing this along, it brightened my day!
