Let me be perfectly honest, I am was so startled the number of emails I got as a result of my April post listing my biggest pet peeves. The biggest email was a mis-understanding of what a pet peeve was so before I go any further let me define the term, a pet peeve is a minor annoyance that an individual identifies as particularly annoying to them, to a greater degree than others may find it. So today, I give you ten from me and ten from my friends, these are mine:
- When unsubscribing from an online mailing list has more than three steps
- Nail polish chips on day two
- When people write long numbers with out punctuation ex: 91751363473
- When that one piece of sushi touches the wisabi and becomes inedible
- Putting others down to make yourself feel better
- When the person next you at the gym forgot deodorant
- When the masseuse tells you you should really come once a week
- Not Washing Hands After Using the Restroom
- When people put their wet umbrella on the seat next to them on the subway
- Movie theater talkers and texters
- My #1 pet peeve is people with bad grammar- there IS a difference between “your” and “you’re!
– Rachel from Life Unsweetened
- Mine is when couples sit on the same side of the boot in the restaurant. Like what? Don’t you want to face each other so you can talk? You really have to sit this close at all times? Get a room.
– Helene from Helene In Between
– Susannah from Simple Moments Stick
- When people are barefoot in public.
– Misty from Handbags and Handguns
- People who don’t change the toilet paper roll.
– Kelly at Messy Dirty Hair
- People who are always late – ugh so annoying ;)!!!
– Jules from Jules Fashion Week
- When people block intersections.
– Michael from Crazy Tragic Almost Magic
- Loud chewing or constant tapping.
– Katie from For Lauren and Lauren
- Spelling, especially in this digital age of spellcheck and autocorrection I can’t handle it when someone misspells something, uses a word in the wrong context or doesn’t edit what they’ve typed!
– Sonia at Daring Coco
- Lack of manners. Maybe it’s that good ole Southern Hospitality I’ve grown up with, but smile at strangers, hold the door, and for Heaven’s sake ALWAYS say “thank you!”
– Lauren from Fizz and Frosting
- One of my biggest pet peeves is when people practically stand on my backside while on line. It doesn’t make the line go any faster.

Yessss, I hate pretty much all of these, haha. My #1 pet peeve is when people interrupt me when I’m talking!
Kelly Ann says
Haha, you should do that. And then blog about it!
Kelly Ann says
Absolutely, thank you for being a part of it!
Kelly Ann says
I agree, either be aggressive or not!
Kelly Ann says
Me too!
Kelly Ann says

Kelly Ann says
I am lucky in NYC I do not have to drive but I agree, those are annoying!
Kelly Ann says
Lucky you! I live in New York City so it is a daily occurrence!
Kelly Ann says
I try to be REALLY good on the first day so it hardly ever happens to me but I know what you mean!
Kelly Ann says
One step safeunsubcribe is my favorite!
Kelly Ann says

Kelly Ann says
It just seemed necessary!
Kelly Ann says
Okay, good to know, you can have that CRAZY spicy piece and I know what you mean, please do not sit on top of me!
Kelly Ann says
Couples on the same side just makes everyone around feel awkward!
Jackie says
YES to basically all of these!!
I used to work as a server, so couples sitting on the same side of the booth was definitely up there in annoying things people did.
I also hate when people stand ridiculously close in line. One time, the person behind me sneezed on me. A couple of days later, I caught a cold. Coincidence…????

Hmmmm biggest pet peeve- When we’re at the beach and people set up their stuff RIGHTONTOP of ours. Really? There’s at least a half mile of sand in either direction and you are 3 inches away from my towel? Oy….

And a barefoot Britney Spears to round out the post… Love!
Cece says
We are that couple that sits next to each other at the booth and it’s all my fault. I hated when I’d see other couples do it. And yes, we can still talk but I just like being next to him. I have issues. : )
Katie says

Oh my god, people pushing against you in a line is AWFUL. I always forget how awful it is until I have to stand in a line. (I don’t find myself queuing orderly very often.)
Sharon says
I think most of my pet peeves involve driving…I hate when people go super slow in the left lane and when they don’t use their blinkers!
