Tuesday Trend: Turquoise Accessories

According to one of my good friends this “fashion blog” is very “vain”.  He suggested that when I discuss fashionable things I give my readers “useful” information.  When I asked what he meant he responded in a question, “what is your next post about?” Scrambling and somehow blanking on my hundreds of pending posts (not kidding, I have 207 drafts) I said turquoise accessories.  He informed me that I should begin the psot by explaining that “Turquoise is blue-to-green mineral consisting of a hydrous phosphate of copper and aluminium and dates back thousands of years as a decorative stone”.  I stopped him there, thanked him for his contribution, and changed the subject. Sorry people, this is not a science blog.  The most science you are going to get is what makes Diet Coke and Splenda calorie free but so yummy!

    God, I hear stuff like that from all my guy friends ALL the time! They’re always so surprised that I run a fashion blog and care about clothes (somehow missing the fact that I always dress fancy, apparently) and they go on and on about how it seems too stupid and vain for me. Just because you’re discussing how pretty something is, rather than its historic and scientific background, does not make the discussion of it pointless. Many of the people who write fashion blogs already know things like, oh y’know, turquoise’s history in personal decorations (and its color…its name kind of states its understood coloring). Anyways, I love the shoes and the necklace, they’re awesome!

    Umm, although his suggestion is true and knowledgable, we don’t concern ourselves with that. This is probably the girliest thing I’ve evr said but… if it matches my outfit and looks good, that’s all that matters. I LOVE turquoise. It looks amazing paired with white and silver.
