Henry’s first birthday party is now on the calendar and I am NOT ready. I know it is only the start of November but when you think about the fact that Christmas is next month and Henry was born just after it makes you realize that is coming soon. I have no interest in rushing it – I’d prefer for time to slow but that’s not how it works (Unless Violet is around to channel Andarna’s Feathertail Signet at stop time … #ifyouknowyouknow) Today, on his 10 month birthday was the first time I caught Henry clapping on camera and he looks oh so proud of himself, my big boy!! Without further ado, his 10 month update:
Nicknames: Big Boy, Little Man, Chunky Monkey, Big Guy (mark only), Papito (Isa only) and Henry James.
Firsts:
- Being born January 5th means that every holiday that falls into 2025 falls under the Henry first Halloween – he was a baby dinosaur!
- “Rollercoaster Ride” and I put that in air quotes because it is a bit liberal to call this Step2 Racing Green Up & Down Roller Coaster Ride-On: Pedal Push Toy a true roller coaster but both he and Lily enjoyed it so much at a friend’s house that is now on their Christmas list!
- Similar to Lily Henry is a dual citizen of the US and UK and has had both passports since late Spring but this past month it was his first time using one when we went to Turks & Caicos.
- I absolutely hate missing any first but the Little Man went to the dentist for the first time and now we brush his teeth twice a day, little tootbrushes are too cute and when I realized I needed to use a little bit of lily’s toothpaste I got a bit sad, where is my big boy?
Weight: I would guess a bit over 20lbs as big guy is a huge fan of solids.
Length: Nearly 28 inches (and getting too long for nearly all his 6-9 month clothes)
Trying to eat his 10 month disk wearing his Marks and Spencer Dinosaur Long Sleeve Top and Leggings
Teeth: We are still holding steady at 8 teeth.
Loves: Chewing on anything he can get his hands on, playtime, and eating. He goes to a handful of classes each week at our local libraries—complete with music, singing, and so much sensory fun. Even though I don’t get to attend, the photos and videos make it look like he’s having the best time. When our nanny Isa (whom Lily adorably calls “EE-EE”) sends me updates, it genuinely brightens my day to see how happy he is.
Hates: Being overtired, being left alone, and not being fed quickly enough. I also tried to recreate the photo I took of Lily inside a pumpkin back in October 2023, but saying Henry “wasn’t having it” would be putting it mildly. We’ve been mentioning for a few months that he doesn’t like to be left alone, but it has gotten more intense lately—Mark even called it “separation anxiety.” He’s not wary of strangers, though; if you smile at him, he’ll smile right back. He just has no interest in playing solo.
Moments to Remember: I wrote this last month but it is still true so I will re-share verbatim ” I ask Mark at least a few times a week “why is he so big” and it’s so true! For his 10 month update here’s a few more:
- I catch myself at least once a a day singing him a little jingle I made up at “Henry Rollinson, do-do, do-do-do”
- This past month Henry has been wearing a ton of Lily hand-me-down clothes form the Polarn O’Pyret stripe, to the bear suit to the Baby Mori Sleep Sack and it makes my heart melt.
- Henry James, I am obsessed with you little buddy and I can not believe we only have two more monthly updates to go before your first birthday!
- Crawling is getting fast, changing from commando army crawl to hands and knees – double checking we have baby proofed everything – still swear by these magnets and these outlet covers but have to make sure the small pieces of lily’s toys, particular the play kitchen bits, are away
- He is nearly perfected drinking water from a straw and we are a big fan of these cups, the Olababy Silicone Training Cup with Straw Lid.
I love you Baby Bear and I am sure I will be writing the next update before I know it!

What a big boy and so smiley.
Yes he is at the stage when everything is in his mouth. I had to try so hard to not let my daughter put just about everything into her mouth and once she started crawling, oh my goodness I couldn’t turn my back for a second.
Congratulations on your beautiful baby boy.
