Greetings from Spain! I mentioned in last week’s post that Mark and I moved up our summer holiday from the end of August to this week and it turned out to be a great decision for a few reasons. First, it made the global news but London reached 40°C earlier this week for the first time and as that is over 100°F that would have been absolutely boiling in our flat without air conditioning. Instead we were on the beach in the high 70s, low 80s with a great breeze.
The second reason was that we both needed a change of scenery. Unlike most trips we have simply been going day by day with only flights and hotels booked when we got on the plane on Saturday. Visiting the Canary Islands has been on my list for years and with a few islands to choose from I narrowed it down by looking for direct flights from England and islands with Marriott hotels so we could cash in many of the points we have been building up from credit card charges and other travels.
Thus, we chose two islands – for the first half of our trip we are staying on Fuerteventura and we have had a nice few days here. Yes, I know there are tons of amazing things to do on the island and we only scratched the surface but lounging and reading two books (here and here) in three days was more what we needed rather than running around trying to see everything. Take a look at my Fuerteventura recap:
The Famous Church of Iglesia Catedral de Santa Maria de Betancuria
Fuerteventura recap – Piscina Natural, the natural lava pool
Fresh Fish at El Bounty del Muelle in Puerto de Rosario
Palm Tree on La Guirra Beach
With the Morro Velosa Statues near the Mirador Morro Velosa viewpoint
Scuba Diving at Deep Blue Dive Center in Caleta de Fuste Harbor
In the Capital of Fuerteventura, la playa de canarias
Which is your favorite shot from our Fuerteventura recap?

Wow. I still can’t believe that London was 104 F or 40 C. That is nuts. Brooklyn was 100F for several days in a row. Central Park the official weather station in NYC was mid to high 90’s or around 35 to 36C. Meanwhile I caught the flu and have to sweat this out without the AC. Covid test pending. Boyfriend was understanding but needed the fan. With the covid scare boyfriend got sent home and can only work for the week. He is happy about that. As for you I am glad that you are having a great vacation. Favorite picture is the one with you posing with the Morro Velosa Statues. I love that cute floral romper. I love the palm trees too. Anytime I see that I am always happy.

Yummy fish that clearly just got out of the sea… Not sure what photo I like the best but they are all very well done and hope you have a lovely vacation.
I have never been to the Canary Islands.
Would you recommend it now that you have explored it a bit?

You with the big strong handsome men followed by the last one where your dimples are raging.
Great photos and have never heard of the place. Good for you!

Thanks for posting this so soon into your trip! I was excited to hear you were going to the Canary Islands as I’ve had a big curiosity about them. They look more arid than I was imagining but looks like you are having a great time seeing amazing things. I hope the scuba was great and glad you are getting in some much needed R&R with your hubby!
