“I am finding Black Friday really overwhelming”. – this is what one coworker said in the office last Thursday and I agree – things were a bit overboard this year. For some it put them off of shopping but for me, I went all in. It was a combination of Mark and I waiting for great sales to buy a household items, using wedding gift cards and checks, and purchasing holiday gifts (both for family and for me, for others to gift me). Since I purchased more than a dozen items I am going to dive right in – some interesting, some not as much.
________
A New Bed: This is the purchase I am most excited about, yayy!! On Friday evening just as the sales were ending Mark and I ordered a Super King which in the UK is the same size as an American King. This is going to be a huge upgrade from our double bed and clearly when you buy a new mattress and it is a different size you need a new bed frame and sheets #weddinggifts #thankgoodness. We opted for the Nectar Hybrid Mattress (with it’s 365 day return policy) and a Terina Upholstered Platform Bed from Wayfair. Plus of course when you get a new bed of a different size we purchased these 100% Egyptian cotton Super King sheets from a luxury bedding line with a viewstar bamboo mattress protector.
Peacoat: I have needed a new one since the end of last Winter as mine is not only too big thanks to all my fitness endeavours but the leather on the sleeves (seen here) has begun to rip. Sadly the tailor quoted a price to fix it which is more expensive than the coat and this was the tipping point to getting a new one. I looked at more than a dozen and finally purchased this Ted Baker Rosess Belted Wool Blend Coat after trying it on in two different stores, the third time was the charm!
Wedding Bits & House Bits – The amount of packages we received the past few days has been insane but not all of them have been exciting. From our wedding Mark wants to save our the engagement and wedding cards so we got two Vienrose self adhesive photo albums to store them in and also purchased a WD 1TB External Hard Driv to back up all of thousands of photos and high def videos. Yes, yes, I know all about Cloud storage but with things this important I am not taking any chances.
We also had a long list of boring things for the flat that we were waiting for the big sales and that made it into my cyber weekend purchases. These included two TP-Link Tapo Smart Plug (and here’s UK version) which connect up to our smart home and which our Christmas tree is already hooked up to. We also got a second set of La Jolie Muse hanging planter basket and another Pro Breeze Compact Dehumidifier as the moisture in our home gym is no joke. Boring, right?
Dresses for Thailand – I have realized I have not mentioned on the blog yet that Mark and I are going to Thailand for our honeymoon over New Year’s, yay! There were tons of logistics including COVID tests and someone to watch our flat but now that those big things are sorted it is full steam ahead, as long as the regulations don’t change, fingers crossed. And I really do mean steam as it is going to be HOT so I ordered a few new light and airy dresses perfect for the beach or touring temples. I have yet to try them on but I am excited about this mint floral dress, the front belted navy number, and this tropical print maxi all pictured below
Presents – I also ordered up a handful of presents for family members and close friends but as they read this blog I have to be careful how much I share :). I can tell you they were from LL Bean Men’s, Amazon Kids toy’s, and Nordstrom’s women’s section. And if you need another clue, some of the items were on the gift guides I shared earlier this month. One though that I have to tell you about – even though I will not share the recipient is this Drowsy Silk Sleep Mask — I got one for my birthday and seriously – EVERYONE needs one!
Lastly, I was going to feature the ugly sweaters that I purchased because in less than two weeks I was supposed to have a work party a work party where I needed one. However with the new COVID variant the UK governement has updated the laws and group gatherings are not allowed so all of them are going back but in case you need one I had purchased this Baby Reindeer Christmas Jumper is one, this LED Light Up Reindeer Ugly sweater, the highly rated Kraftd Long Sleeve Knitted Sweater, and this unisex Off the Rack Light Up Novelty Christmas Pullover.

I got myself a few goodies and several items from your gift guides. They are so helpful to me. Especially for the men in my life.
I never know where you get so many great ideas.

I got a new computer and some bike clothes. Really like the look of that pea coat that you featured.
Very sleek looking and I think I would look really good in it.
Glad you were so successful.

Back home from Florida. Boo Woo. Some great choices for your Cyber Weekend Purchases. New bed always works. Boyfriend and I need a new bed soon. We wore that bed out the last few years. Another honeymoon. Wow. Thailand for New Years is a great choice. Anyway to escape winter in the UK for a while is a good thing. I can see the reason you got a couple of new bikinis. I love that front belted navy floral dress. Perfect for a tropical getaway.
