DIY Gold Tape Dispenser

Welcome to the latest Sparkles and Shoes DIY project!  Similar to my recipes I like DIY’s that are nice and simple without too many steps.  But first, let me set the stage:  At work we are moving to a very open floor plan and the amount of desk space is going to be greatly diminished.  I have only a few weeks to decide which precious items are going to make the purge.  With this in mind I am trying for all of the things I have left to be as cute as possible and there was one desk accessory that was sticking out like a sore thumb – my tape dispenser. 

It is solid black, boring, and I wanted a cute one.  I had my mind set on a metallic gold and went on a search since I would certainly not locate one in the supply closet. I found the Kate Spade Acrylic Gold Tone Tape Dispenser for $28 but it is not what I was looking for – it was mainly clear.  Then I found almost exactly what I was looking for, this one, but I am definitely not paying $180+ for a metallic gold tape dispenser, no matter what it looks like:

Thus, I decided to make my own!  I inherited a very simple clunky  Scotch® Deluxe Desktop Tape Dispenser, C-40, Black, for 1 Inch Core Tapes when I started my job last year and went about turning it into a great statement piece for my new desk (who said statement pieces were limited to jewelry?)  I had the gold spray paint and painters tape left over from November’s Pinterest Projects and the white paint was something I had laying around my apartment. 

I am very happy with how my DIY Gold Tape Dispenser turned out – thoughts?
