Pretty Portofino on the Italian Riviera

11/17/21 | Italy, Italy Roadtrip, Mediterranean, Travel

Portofino Harbor in Italy

Now that travel has been opening back up I have a number of friends heading to Italy and one asked for recommendations today.  I have been to the beautiful Mediterranean country a few times but 2020 was my first trip to Portofino. While Portofino may be described as a “sleepy fishing village” but it really is one of the most Instagrammable places i have ever been. During our Italian road trip last year we spent an afternoon in the gorgeous town on our journey from Lake Como to Cinque Terre.

It has a population of only 400 and Trip Advisor does not even have 10 things they suggest to do but that’s not the point – see the harbour, go shopping, eat something, and take in the view. Take a look:

From the harbour we headed around to the right on a path that leads from the Piazzetta to Castello Brown.  The Castello is not quite what I would define as a castle but it is a 16th-century fortress and museum.  The art was limited but the panoramic views of Portofino town are well worth the €5 entrance fee. On the day we visited my DSLR was having issues but I think I was still able to get some gorgeous shots of the Ligurian Sea.

Spent the weekend with the boyfriend going over our travel bucket lists and as usual, I pulled up your numerous travel spots.

This one certainly made the top as well as a few others. Girl, you really do get around.

We aspire to travel as much as you do when our budget allows us.

It is such a quaint and romantic little spot tucked away from the world. I have not been there since I was a teenager.

What a waste. Need to get my boyfriend over there and maybe the romantic setting will spark something in him. HINT HINT!!

Oh I want to go right now.

Seriously you should write and take photos for a travel magazine. The angles of your shots and the perspective is fantastic.

I always get such serious wanderlust when I read and see your travel posts. Keep them coming.
