Hello, hello! Things have been absolutely bonkers, mostly in good ways. I have been working long hours, yes, but my evenings have been filled with dinners, gym sessions, and plans. Weekends have been traveling, visiting friends and family, catching up with those we have not seen in over a year, and more. Oh, and wedding planning, there has been a heck of a lot of that. So yes, a few fewer posts on Sparkles and Shoes compared to the normal weekly cadence but life lately has been busy. I plan on going back to normal soon but until then I wanted to give you all a little life update. I have done this twice before and you all thought it was a fun way to catch you up on my life so here we go again:
Making: A list of items of the things I need at the grocery store when I actually have time to go this weekend!
Cooking: Fish tacos, they are one of Mark and my favorite warm weather meals.
Drinking: During the day the Nespresso Barista Creations flavor Hazelino Muffin and in the evening, a dry port I brought back from Madeira.
Reading: by Phil Knight.
Wanting: to try on my wedding dress again! It has been over a year and my first dress fitting is August 18th, can’t wait!
Looking: for a wedding program design that both Mark and I like!
Playing: as whole mix of shows and movies on Netflix now that new content is coming out.
Wasting: vegetables, sadly. I keep buying produce like I did during lockdown when we ate at home every night forgetting that sometimes we go out now!
Wishing: that they sold Goldfish in the UK as I have been craving them so badly!
Enjoying: Making travel plans now that the world is opening back up.
Waiting: for my office to reopen so I can go back to normal work days.
Wondering: when the US / UK travel ban will be lifted (fingers crossed it is soon).
Loving: that I hit the fundraising goal in my swimming challenge, now it is just time to finish the last four miles.
Marvelling: that we are already in the second half of Summer.
Smelling: the last of my delicious vanilla cupcake candle!
Wearing: a ton of Summer dresses now that the weather has finally gotten warm.
Following: coverage of the Olympics, especially the swimming!
Listening: to all kinds of music as I work to put together a playlist for our rehearsal dinner.
What have you been up to in life lately?
Janine says
Definitely the Olympics… the gymnastics, swimming, beach volleyball and diving are some of my favorites. So much drama and success for those hard working Olympians which I know that you can relate too.
I make sure to see some every morning and then love the recaps at night. So sorry for the athletes that their loved ones can’t be with them and wonder how much that effected Simone. Probably a lot.
Glad that mental health is getting so much notice and that the stigma of saying I am not ok and brining everyone’s struggles into the open.

Been doing a lot of hiking and kyacking…so much fun to enjoy the summer and get out and move. Was sick of my Peloton even though I love it but being outdoors is such a nice change of pace as you know.
Want to do some rock climbing too soon.

You are a busy bumble bee and not sure how you juggle so many balls in the air but you sure do. You are such an inspiration Kelly.
Busy here with me and work, boyfriend, life etc. Nothing quite as fun as your life but getting through all the daily requirements. I need to schedule more “date” weekends like you do so that we have something to look forward to on the weekends and get a change from the four walls and get some outdoor time. That is my new goal.

Nice life update. Been doing a lot of the same as you.
Did a lot of reading and listening to books on tape. I would highly recommend “The Personal Librarian” True story.
Also just finished watching Imposters which was clever and twisted and turned a bit, I think you would enjoy it.

Travel, went whale watching the other day and got to Provincetown pre breakout.
Now in Wellfleet and saw where they harvest the famous Wellfleet oysters from, so cool to see the farms that have been in families for generations and get to see why the temperature of the water, the huge time, 12 feet change and fairly clean water and salinity of the water all combine to make these little babies some of the best in the world.
Yeah for travel.
