Over the past few weeks I have been working on a vast number of wedding details – sorting out little details (like the gift table), vendor details (like the instruments of the band), and a few aspects from having to postpone. This includes switching gone of the preferred wedding hotels but thankfully we found a great one at a decent rate. While updating our website with these new details I am happy I did not have to change any of my suggested activities for those in Naples, Florida. And today I want to share one of these, jet skiing with dolphins.
I have been lucky enough to do this a few times and most recently in February 2020. I shared a few pictures in my We are Back from Florida post and to my surprise, one of the images with the highest traffic on Pinterest – who would have guessed known? Between the connection with wedding planning and this fun analytics insight I decided to share a bit more about this incredible experience.
Normally the weather in Southwest Florida is warm year round but on the morning we went, it was actually quite chilly though it was still a fantastic time. The town just north of Naples is called Ft. Myers and on this expansive beach there are a few companies that offer jet skiing with dolphins and I did a bit of research before booking. I opted to go with Wind and Water Sports and while you can do a jet ski – formally called a wave runner – with two passengers as part of his Christmas present I opted for two wave runners, each with one passenger (i.e. we had our own).
After a quick safety briefing we took our Yamaha Wave Runners in the gulf South a few miles and then on a a two-hour guided scenic eco tour throughout Estero Bay. There is an amazing amount of wild life and over the course of our trip we saw at least a dozen dolphins. I would advise bringing a camera whether a waterproof one or a cellphone in a waterproof case as you will want to get photos of this amazing experience, take a look:
If you are in Naples, Ft. Myers, or anywhere in Southwest Florida I highly recommend booking a tour jet skiing with dolphins – it really is an unforgettable experience.
Have you ever seen a dolphin in the wild?

I have only ever seen a dolphin in the zoo so this must be such a cool experience.
Betsy says
Yes, yes and yes…so nice that when they advertise “dolphin” jet ski that you really get to see one and you saw a ton.
Can’t believe that you got that close to them. Were they scared of you or are they used to it?
Jane says
This looks like something I would love to do.
