Hiking the The Path of the Gods

Positano Amalfi Coast Path of the Gods - Travel Blogger at Look Out Point

The Path of the Gods.  Sounds like quite an ominous name, no?  When I first saw it my mind immediately wen to Home’s The Odyssey and Mount Olympus but I soon realized this was a bit off.   While colloquially refered to as the Path of the Gods this free mountain top train is actually called the Il Sentiero degli Dei.  If this name rings a vague bell  I have mentioned this gorgeous hike twice before in both my Ciao Ciao Italia post  and in my 12 Amalfi Coast recommendations which I shared last month.

Compared to some of the hikes I have done in the past few years – or even the six hour trek of the Villages of Cinque Terre I had done the week before – this one was not too arduous.  In total it takes a bit over two miles as it is only four miles long and while the guide books suggest there are good sign posts, I would beg to differ.  After a bit of research I decided to book an AirBnB experience (one of the half dozen we did on our Italy roadtrip) and we had great hike with Enzo.   From the day we booked he was in touch and worked with us to make the hike the best afternoon it could be for us including picking us up in Amalfi and driving us to the starting point in Agerola.  If you are interested in the hike I would recommend his informative and entertaining experience which you can find here.   And no, this is not sponsored, we just genuinely had a great time.  And now what you have been waiting for, the photos:

^ By the time we got to the famous vista the clouds were so gray and even our tour guide was concerned we would not be able to see a sunset at all.  He even pulled up a photo on his phone to show me what it usually looked like in case we totally missed out.  But sometimes patience pays off and I got the beautiful shots below.

I’ve never heard of this place. It certainly is spectacular and can’t wait to travel again. You certainly have time to some fantastic spots.
