Merry Christmas 2020! This year Christmas is not going forward as planned – we should have been in in Central England, what Brits call the Midlands, but alas, no.  There were not supposed to be any presents because we were planning to wait until Boxing Day, December 26th, when my soon to be brother-in-law, sister-in-law, and future nieces and nephew would join us.  I cannot recall the last time I did Christmas with kids – it has probably been 15 years – as was super excited as I think a three year old and five year old will bring a whole new level of Christmas joy to the day.

I think this BBC headline ‘Christmas cancelled’ is the most applicable and all of the details can be found in the UK government press release called Prime Minister announces Tier 4: ‘Stay At Home’ Alert Level in response to new COVID variant.  To summarize this means London (and 1/3 of England) is in a newly created Tier 4 of lockdown “you must not leave or be outside of your home” with all non-essential retail shut as well as hospitality, leisure and sports facilities, and more.   And in case you needed more – this quite from the Prime Minster sums it up – “Given the early evidence we have on this new variant of the virus, the potential risk it poses, it is with a very heavy heart I must tell you we cannot continue with Christmas as planned,” Mr Johnson said.  There was going to be an exemption for families to get together over Christmas but now it’s illegal to see anyone outside your home.  So yes, it is very hard. 

But it is still Christmas and despite all of these rules there is still much to be thankful for (though as I posted on Instagram, it is okay to still be angry).   And because it is a Friday I will share my outfit details but not accost you with too many shots of this look.  Instead below are the outfit details and I will leave you with my and Mark’s holiday card!
