Happy Friday and happy birthday week to me! Every once in a while I buy something online loving the item on the model but not sure if it will look the same on me. Surprisingly this dress I ordered over the summer was everything I hope for and more when I tried it on on. The more I wear it, the more I love it – it is perfect for twirling plus the print makes a statement without being overbearing. Only after it arrived did I take note of the name of the dress, the Martinique Tiered Maxi Kaftan Dress in Flame, and having recently been to St. Lucia and being able to see the island of Martinique i could see where they got The name of this tiered maxi style and the color “flame” is a very fun name for this two-tone abstract floral motif.
As you can see in the photo above and In the dozen below (it was so hard to narrow it down) I chose to keep my accessories neutral and actually tried on half a dozen shoes until I settled on these ones. You may recall two years ago I went to Morocco and traveling for 10 days with only a carry on bag it really limited the amount I was able to buy but I did search in countless markets and shops for a pair of Arabic style miles. However, i Went home empty handed as either i didn’t like the design, the quality was too low, or they didn’t have my size and then ironically found these Sam Edelman ones from Shopbop a month later! Take a look this maxi Kaftan dress:
Dress | John Lewis & Partners Martinique Tiered Maxi Kaftan Dress in Flame
Headband | Star Decor Metal Headband Earrings | Shashi Aurora Earrings in Gold and Pearl
Lipstick | Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Lips Matte Liquid Lipstick Nails | ImPRESS Press-on Manicure in Next Wave
Watch | Michael Kors Oversized Runway Watch in Gold Shoes | Sam Edelman Clara Mules in Gold
I am not sure if you can tell in these photos but despite the amount of fabric this dress is quite lightweight, likely because it is 100% woven cotton. My only complaint is I do not have anywhere to wear it before it needs to be packed away for next season!
What do you think of this maxi kaftan dress?

Glad you did the photo with the really wide display of the dress. Reminded me of the King and I when she danced or the Nutcracker where you could have 10 children hiding under your dress.
Is it heavy?
