Hi from my 50th country! Today is day four of my Iceland long weekend and since I did a recount of 49 Countries and Counting this summer and that makes Iceland the net one and a nice even number. It is also the ninth country I have visited solo in the last two and a half years (in the order I visited Hungary, Austria, Czech Republic, Ireland, Denmark, Finland, Sweden, and Norway) and so far it has been incredible! I plan on doing many in depth posts of my time here but I wanted to share a handful of photos from the trip so far – some of which you may have seen on Instagram, and some are brand new! And breaking from tradition, I have written a little blurb under each of these photos from Iceland:
Sunrise and Icebergs in Jo?kulsa?rlo?n by the at Glacier Lagoon
The Great Geysir irrupting in southwestern Iceland.
One of my many roadside stops to take photos of the gorgeous Icelandic horses!
Climbing behind the Selijalandsfoss Waterfall
An Incredible Sunset at Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach
With my pick before Ice Caving in Skaftafell – Vatnajökull National Park
Rainbow at the Sko?gafoss Waterfall (and I hiked the top!)
Believe it our not I still have two of the biggest things left – seeing the Northern Lights and the Blue Lagoon! Today, Monday, I will be taking a walking tour of the capital and am planning to spend the afternoon in the blue waters of the lagoon but fingers crossed I’ll also get to see the lights before I head home! Oh, and yes, I actually have changed my clothes every day but since it barely gets above freezing I have been living in my new waterproof Sorel Caribou Boots and my Canada Goose Victoria Parka as the weather has barely risen above freezing!
Which of these photos from Iceland is your favorite?

I would love to be you right now, lol. I find that I’m drawn to the pictures, but when I realize those long words are how people normally talk in Iceland, it’s a serious turn off.
How do you communicate with everyone in Iceland?
Do you speak their language?
Do they often speak English?

I want to go ice caving…loved the waterfall photos too and how you got a rainbow in there too is incredible. Looks like such a fun trip.

I love the sunrise one and how you got the “Icebergs” involved. The rest of the photos were great and I would love to be at those waterfalls with you!

Wow what a beautiful winter wonderland. Ice glaziers are so beautiful to look at. I love all of the photos you took there. Boyfriend traveled to Iceland and Greenland several years back and he saw the northern lights and he loved it. He went in December. He also went to Greenland and saw 24 hour darkness. When he got back NYC felt like summer to him.
