A Dramatic Little Black Dress

For being a New Yorker my entire life my Summer wardrobe has more color in it than most but as the weather gets colder the hues fade it is nearly all black clothes on black velvet hangers. I posted a funny meme a few years ago that said my favorite color would change when they make a color darker than black and a lot of the time I still feel that way. Which brings me to why I love little black dresses so much – the color speaks to my inner New Yorker and they can go with anything and be worn to any event. This dramatic little black dress is my third dress of the year for the custom dress maker Eshakti and I love the style (you can see the first and second here and here) . 

In particular I really like the two mesh detail lined panels of this pretty black dress and chose to accessorize it with a great pair of magenta heels.  With the pop of color in the shoes and the fancy earrings this dress is ready for a night on be town but this September may be the first time in more than a decade where I do not have a big birthday party planned for myself.  But seeing as I will be spending the day on a flight across the country and then the subsequent two weeks at two back-to-back weddings bookended with work trips to the West Coast it does not look like there will be any big parties in my immanent future so instead I will share this outfit today which is likely what I would wear!

I think this flounce tulle hem cotton knit sheath dress really is quite pretty and the pop of color with the shoes brightens it up.
