While I love New York City spending the long weekend in the concrete jungle was not something I wanted to do so my friend Ali and I booked a last minute trip down to Florida to soak up some sunshine! Yes, if you have been following along this was my second weekend in a row in the sunny city but since my weekend recap last week went over so well I thought I would do another one – a day by day overview how one of my best friends and I explored the city during our Miami Memorial Day Weekend.
On Friday Ali and I caught an early morning flight from NYC down to Miami and despite the early wakeup were thrilled to be on the beach by noon (all the praise emoji hands). This was followed by a late lunch, then back to the beach, checking into our hotel in Mid-Beach, and dinner at Ola. The cuz was quite good and from there we walked to Townhouse on xyz where we had a few hours of drinks under the stars before we got in a limo and headed back up to MidBeach where we danced ti the wee hours at Liv – quite a Miami night.
For two girls who on the go as much as Ali and I are sleeping in on Saturday morning was absolutely glorious and by the time we got up we decided to walk the three miles from our hotel down to South Beach. While the temperatures were in the high 80’s it was a lovely stroll and made us very thankful for our iced coffee and beach chairs when we finally arrived. As you may have seen on Instagram or my Snapchat stories the U.S. AirForce was putting on a huge display so there were more fighter jets than I’ve ever seen outside of TopGun.
We enjoyed people watching, reading, drinking rose, listening to music, and afternoon salmon ceviche snack before talking a walk down Ocean Drive and headed home. As we had gone out aggressively the night before we decided to do something a bit calmer and instead got drinks at the Delano which were terrific but quite pricey ($46 for two drinks, eek!) and then had dinner at Wynwood Kitchen where I had throughly enjoyed tapas the week before. Once dinner was over we checked out the amazing graffiti walls but I don’t want to share too much because they will have their own post coming soon!!
Sunday was the part I was most nervous about – the pool party. I am not sure why I was nervous but having never been to a true Vegas, Hamptons, or Miami pool party I was unsure of what to expect but it was an incredible six hours swimming, lounging on day beds, and applying multiple rounds of sunscreen while making sure to count our drinks.
From there I met Kier of Kier Couture and her amazing boyfriend for dinner in the heart of South Beach at Cleo and it was great catching up with one of my oldest blogging friends. Sunday night, well, we had plans to see a hip hop concert but after hearing about the shooting the night before opted to skip it in order of more sleep (how you know you are growing up)
Yesterday on our last day in town we had one of the best Memorial Days I have had in ages – sleeping in, brunch at Cecconi’s in Soho Beach House where we had delicous avocado bagels and split a match bowl, more time at the beach, and afternoon paddle boarding. I was happy that we were able to get late checkout before even by mid afternoon I was not ready to leave so we decided get a drink at the Broken Shaker before getting to the airport!
I’m now back in New York City and already missing the sunshine but June begins this week and I have a few more fun trips on the docket so excpect more posts like this Miami Memorial Day recap one!
What did you do this Memorial Day weekend?

Welcome back. I can tell that you had fun & fashionable Memorial Day weekend. You should have just made a week vacation and stayed in Miami for the whole week. Your second job should be travel guide. Where is next vacation. My weekend was Virginia Beach. I flew out Thursday night after work and flew back this morning for work to crappy cool and rainy NYC weather. Only rainy day for me was Sunday but that was the party so I was indoors. I will take 3 of 4 dry days anytime. We picked the right weekend to leave town because I heard the weather here was not good at all for Memorial Day weekend. Tonight will be crash night.
