Welcome to the last post of February! Between connecting with a great brand, Fashion Week swag bags, and online shopping I had the chance to try out more than dozen new beauty products this month and wanted to share a few that really hit the ball out of the park and that I think all of you might like – from makeup to beauty and one very strange but effective tool!
Color Correctors: No, the picture is not deceiving you – yes that the concealer is really pumpkin orange. I actually got the idea to buy this after reading a Buzzfeed article of cheap makeup products that actually work and a testimonial that this NYX Cosmetics Concealer in Orange works wonders if you put it in on, let it set, and the cover with your normal concealer for all day coverage of dark circles. For $5 it was worth a shot and it did not disappoint! Next up is the Yves Saint Laurent Touche Eclat Neutralizers which is a bit pricer at $38 but a little goes a long way with this green tinted concealer that works wonders on neutralizing – as the name suggests – red spots before they are concealed.
Eye Products: Over the course of New York Fashion Week I was gifted quite a few makeup goodies and in a pinch I threw this W3LL PEOPLE Expressionist Mascara baby mascara in my bag one morning and was pleasantly surprised by the results – full coverage, good curl, and a dark formula. Usually I gravitate towards waterproof mascaras but this was definitely a thumbs up. And on to the last two products in this photo, through Influenster I received two of the new Marc Jacobs Beauty Highliner Matte Gel Eye Crayon Eyeliner which were incredible! I am obsessed with the formula and actually already had it in black so the browns are great when I am not trying for as intense of a look.
Hair and Face: In the February box of Ricky’s new monthly subscription service Cult Crushes there were a handful of products all curated around staying moisturized during the colder months which I greatly appreciated. Within the box two products stood out – the Phytocitrus Hair Mask which did as advertised – boosted radiance and shine on color treated hair and the Skyn Iceland Pure Cloud Cream which made my dry but acne prone skin rejoice especially with the very light and airy consistence that is very cooling on the skin.
Body: This actually isn’t a new product for me in February but I have not written about it yet so I decided to include it here. On my many frequent trips to Seattle I have now gone back to the Moon Valley Organics booth at the Pike Place Market three times to pick up more of this amazing hand-made lotion. The Moon Melt Lotion Bar comes in four scents -lemon vanilla, bergamot geranium, lavender, and coconut lemon and I have actually purchased all four as gifts over the last three months!
Makeup Applicator: Lastly, the Molly Cosmetics Silisponge silicone sponge! In case you missed it I ordered it on December 11th but due to the crazy popularity, multiple backorders, and international shipping (the brand is based in China) it did not arrive until mid February. This actually one of the first products I’ve purchased in a long time without having tried a sample but was not disappointed! This sponge puts on makeup like a dream and unlike Beauty Blenders or brushes the silicone does not absorb any of the makeup! And if you really want to know more I am not going to reinvent the wheel Jeffree Star did a great 13 minute video of his Silisponge Review and Demo that I highly suggest you check out if you are interested to see it in action and do not mind a bit if vulgar language. A definite must have!
Which of these beauty finds sounds like something you would enjoy?
