I don’t think there has been a time in recent memory that I have left my parents house and thought, gosh, I am happy to depart. In case you missed it on social media I was lucky enough to fly home for Thanksgiving and spend time with my family. Calling Florida home will always be weird to me and is confusing to those who have known me for a long time or for coworkers who know I grew up in the suburbs of New York City but I call home wherever my parents are and for the past few years that has been Florida.
I was able to fly home Tuesday night, work Wednesday from home, and then enjoy four days of R&R with my parents, grandparents, and one of my aunts which was an extra special treat. During those four days I ate an inordinate amount of fresh seafood – oysters and crab claws are my favorite – along with swimming laps outside, riding bikes, taking walks on the beach, waterskiing, and reading a fantastic spy novel. The weather definitely behaved and was a glorious 82 nearly every day with only one rain shower. Take a look:

That must have been one relaxing Thanksgiving break. Florida is so dreamy and I can imagine how weird it must be calling it “home” after growing up in NYC. I’m guessing there’s much more space and bluer skies.

My parents moved to Florida a couple of years ago too, so that’s where I’ve spent my last few holidays! It’s definitely a change of pace, and sometimes it can feel a little less festive around Christmas, but you really can’t beat the warm weather, amazing seafood, and relaxing time by the pool! I always feel so refreshed after the holidays down there. Looks like you had a fun trip!
