Hello, hello and Happy Almost Turkey Day! It is funny, I swam in a charity swim meet this weekend and that was activity that usually would have made it to the blog but it did not. Then I received a comment on Monday that burned a little – why has Sparkles and Shoes taken a much more travel heavy turn and moved away from daily postings? Well it is a great question and the answer is -because I have been traveling and life is busy.
In the last week more than a few people have texted, WhatsApped, or Facebook Messaged me asking where I am. I get it – between my throwback posts from Ireland that correspond with blog posts along with frequent posts of Seattle and now tweets about Florida it seriously must seem like I am globe trotting. Besides Ireland, these trips are all current and with my new job that I started in August I have been traveling to the West Coast quite frequently so make sure you are following along on Snapchat and though Instastories. I also recently learned that there is a song from 1908 called “Has Anybody Here Seen Kelly?” and Leonardo DiCaprio sings it in the movie Catch Me If You Can which honestly is not too far from the truth. But back to the point, yes, I am traveling a ton – in fact for the next five days I am in Florida and I am excited to soak up some sunshine and spend time with family when I am not working! However, I do promise to write more about the fashion, beauty, and shopping mixed in with my favorite travel updates and recaps starting today with a trend I love – mixing navy and black.
I wrote a post in September 2013 where I stated that black was my favorite color and I would wear another color when they invented one that was darker. More than three years later, that is still quite on point. Getting dressed for work yesterday I added a coral colored top to my all black look and for New York City that was a bit much. Something that might be a bit more acceptable to mix with black and the a bright pop or color is navy – take a look at how these seven gorgeous ladies styled the look across a variety of seasons:

What do you think of mixing navy and black? I hope everyone has safe travels today and enjoys a wonderful Thanksgiving tomorrow with those nearest and dearest to them – I will be back on Friday with a great post on the best Black Friday/ Cyber Monday sales !
