Travel Diaries: Font Magica, The Magic Fountain of Montjuic

As Summer quickly speeds to a finish I realize I still have pictures from my trip to Spain in April that I have not shared.  Sure, there have been nearly a dozen posts from basilicas and cathedrals and castles and museums in Barcelona to Retiro Park and a chocolate overload in Madrid but I am back at it with another one.  I  want to make sure I share all of these with you before my next round of trips commences so today for a throwback Thursday I want to take you to the night my mom and I spent at the Magic Fountain of Montjuic, known as the Font Magica in Barcelona.

We were going to be in Barcelona for five days but I had done my research and new that while this gorgeous fountain was lit up every night it only had the musical performance from 19:00 – 20:30 to Friday and Saturday nights so we made sure to be there at 7pm just as the sun was setting on Saturday night to see the 20 minute spectacular.  The Montjuic’s Magic Fountain was built for the 1929 International Exhibition in Barcelona and the well-known piromusical has changed a bit since then but as we danced along to Beyonce and Five Seconds of Summer as the light and music show drew hundreds to the steps of the Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya:

After the show, which lasted twenty minutes, we turned to Trip Advisor to find dinner nearby where we had fresh seafood. For our first night in Spain I was so excited to have fresh seafood and while it was good the food we ate in Barcelona and Madrid  just got better and better so I will not tell you the name of this spot near Plaça d’Espanya as there are places I would recommend hands down, like La Alcoba de Azul, first!
